Not a great performance by a long stretch. But we got the 3 points, kept a clean sheet, brilliant result.

Now we just need Utd to do the business.

Good win there for the team.

Could have been in trouble if Swansea had bothered to show up. Still, they didn't, and we won.....

Now to cheer on United

I was particularly impressed with David Luiz today. He had a very good game in CM, this really is the position for him.

Agreed. He's so much more suited to midfield it really does make you wonder why nobody has ever put him there before. With Cahill back and Ramires injured I hope he's there for at least the remainder of the season.

I wonder that too

He moves the ball around nicely, he's a dogfighter, he covers so much ground in CM. He's also an attacking threat (unlike JOM).

Also if he does 'cock up' - try something stupid, he has the defence behind him.

He was my MOTM today, he's really improving as an all round great player.

He is just a terrible ball playing CB.

You would never pick him if you were shopping for a midfield player.

Not yet maybe, no. But he's improving 10 fold in the CM position. Give him next season in that position and i'm sure he will be up there with the best (yes i seriously think that).

Don't agree - we look more effective with him in there which shows what an impact he can have. Has the natural toughness of a defender, can pass, score goals.

With repect, I think you're wrong there. Why would would clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona be interested in him ?
He has all the necessary skills, it's just his decision making that gets him into trouble at times. In addition, I know Brazil are not famous for producing great defenders, but he has cemented his position with them.
But we've been saying the same thing on here for at least the past 18 months, he does look better suited to a midfield role.
Obviously he is not (yet) the first player who comes to mind if we were looking to fill a defensive midfield role, but with more experience playing in that position, he could be the answer.

Very good weekend for us!
I'm sure you've all worked it out by now, but we need just two more wins plus a point against Spurs to guarentee a top 4 place.
If we beat Spurs, then just one more win would do.

Didn't see the game today, but glad to see we won! Will catch the highlights later.

A draw in the game at the Emirates was good too. Arsenal dropping points and Man U now unable to take our points record.

A truly brilliant weekend, for you guys.

Gutted.

Luiz is a class player, but isn't a top drawer midfielder, much like Jones, at United.

He's not much cop. If West Brom offer a couple of million Chelsea should let him go.

He is a lot better then people make out in my view.

Yes he makes his fair share of mistakes but they becoming less and less and becoming more and more a vital player for us. He can do a decent job against most of the league but would rather he was in front of the defence more often then not. I think his passing skills are better suited.

My pick for Capt when JT gives up the armband

Lamps needs to play every game now. We have to ensure he gets the record (hat trick against Spurs will do me). Hearing there's only one Bobby Tambling and seeing his tears reminds me how important records like this are.

What do I want to say in 20 years I remember from this season? Ensuring we get 3rd or 4th? A Europa Cup win? Or being in the crowd when Frank Lampard a player I have watched for the whole of his Chelsea career a player who matured into one of the best in the world a player who came from burying his mother to scoring a goal to take us to Champions League final break a record that has stood from when my old man stood in the shed? I want to be sitting in a pub talking about the greatest player I ever saw in a blue shirt

Lots of CFC fans on here (myself included) could see that Luiz should be moved up to midfield. However, if it were not for lamps being injured/ out of form and Mikel & Ramires getting overrun, i doubt the management would have tried it.

Anyway, are we now seeing Chelseas greatest ever player in Frank Lampard?

How many other teams in the prem have their GOAT playing for them right now?

Just seen in another forum that not only do you support the greatest football team in the world but you're also a fan Once Upon A Time, the greatest tv show in the world!

I think Luiz is class, definitely the future of this club(along with Mata/Hazard/Oscar). Future captain no doubt about it. Hes got bags of talent, although his decision making is questionable at times, hes improved no end this season though. I think its only a matter of time until hes one of the best players in the world, if he wants to be. He looks like a natural in midfield, perhaps need to watch his positioning though but that will improve with experience. I also think hes always close to a red card when he plays though, he will pick up a few over his career unfortunately, its just the way he plays.

Yeh, not usually my type of programme, but there are worse ways to spend an hour than with Jennifer Morrison and Lana Parrilla
