That would be good news. The paper talk about the Courtois part exchange and buying Hulk has had me nervous. Trying out what we have would be a nice start to the new regime.

Chelsea have been invited to bid for a 17 acre site at Earls Court later this year.

The Mourinho effect is there already. He hasnt got his arse in the chair yet and you have added two players of genuine quality to squad in Lukaku and De Bruyne. The rest of the PL needs to be afraid.........very afraid.

The "invite" has come from Transport for London who own some of the site and not from the Kensingtn and Chelsea council. The no doubt have plans of their own for the sight and at the moment they don't include Chelsea FC .

We are linked with pretty much any striker worth a few pennys. Cavani would be a fantastic signing, get it done!

Good to hear that Lukaku and De Bruyne are coming back. With Hilario / Turnbull going we are surely in the market for a backup GK too.

Rumours today that we are looking to offload Ba and Moses.
I have to say i always thought they were a couple of panic buys and not really of the quality we should be looking for.
More like decent players for Europa leauge chasing teams, rather than ones for a team that has title ambitions.

I agree Ba was probably a bit of a panic buy as we needed a recognised goalscorer who was available i.e. big buys were pretty much ruled out. Ba was a good stop gap option but i agree im not sure if he has much future with us, espeically if we have Lukaku back and are going to sign another top striker, Cavani Torres and Lukaku would probably keep him out of the team.

Moses was a good signing imo and hes had some good games for us, remember he is still a young guy so will get better, hes a good option to have, similar to Hulk in some ways.

the f365 gossip seems to think chelsea will sell juan mata!

looks like a slow news day

Well Chelsea have to sell to buy to be FFP compliant so it's not that far fetched.

ffp?

when did that come in?

Im not concerned at all about FFP, i just cant see it being an issue. Numerous lawyers have said it wont be held up if its challenge legally, im sure clubs will get around it.

And anyway, its over a 3 year period that you need to break even, so spending a load on players this season wouldnt be a disaster as we still have 3 years to break even.

Also i believe transfer fees are not shown as a big chunk i.e £50m upfront, they are discounted over the length of the players contract, i.e £10m per year for Torres for his 5 year contract. So even if we did spend a fortune on players it owuld only show as a smaller loss and our revenue could cover it possibly.

That will only stop the smaller clubs getting bigger and keep the current top dogs at the top of tree.

It will not bother any of the big spenders spending what they want

Yes, I saw that rumour on a couple of sites.
It would be complete insanity in my opinion. Mata would be the first name on any Chelsea team-sheet for the majority of fans. With good reason, 28 assists in total in all competitions and also weighed in with 20 goals in a phenomenal season.

So far, Mourinho's influence has been nothing but positive. Lukaka has been reassured that he is an important part of Jose's plans. Kevin De Bruyne is not going anywhere, even if it means missing out on Schurrie.
We are still in the race for Cavani and possibly Jovetic as well ! And why not ?..if we forget Schurrie the price is not so much more for Jovetic who is currently a far higher rated player.
Courtois is happy enough with another season out on loan. A pity, but it would probably have been impossible to keep two of the best keepers in Europe satisfied. At least it puts a difficult decision off for another day.
I think it's going to be an interesting week or two ahead, Jose will want to get a few deals settled sooner rather than later.

At least it looks like we have "missed out" on luca modric.

So lets get this right, we were about to sell mata and buy modric?

Not even cfc could be that stupid.

Yes, I was just reading that. Mata is already twice the player that Modric will ever be, and he's going to get even better. it would have been madness.
We didn't need Modric anyway, so it's good news as far as I'm concerned.

Im hoping most of our transfer news is just made up gossip.

I would be happy sticking to what we have (and recalling lukaku and debruyne) rather than getting rid of players like Mata and Luiz and bringing in Modric and "Hulk".

I think most of it is just idle gossip. It's not all the fault of journalists though, the agents are the biggest culprits. They have their own agenda to spread rumours and keep their clients in the limelight.

Mourinho's first press conference today, should be fun.

I hope he quells these ridiculous transfer rumors and lays out a strategy.

Of course, he must instill a confidence in himself and his team whereby our opponents are already defeated before we play them (like fergie used to).

Do you really think the press will want to know about "strategy" and quelling transfer rumours? (they sell papers on the back of who buying who).

What they want is soundbites about bird flu,Eggs etc.

We had over 250 applications to attend todays press conference and they will want their headlines and "Chelsea not buying xyz and is not going to be what they want to hear

Partizan Belgrade youngster Lazar Markovic is in Lisbon to have a medical with Benfica, however, it is claimed that he will be moving on loan from Chelsea and not the Serbian champions.

This deal is confusing. I'm sure we signed him in January, then, yesterday, Benfica were said to have signed him. Today, we've signed him and loaned him to Benfica for 2 years

In a few years I think we will own at least 80% of the worlds footballers. We probably already have a few that the club have forgotten about.

That is going to be something more and more common place i think.

The latest gossip making the rounds:

- Rafa wants to work with Torres again, meaning he could be used in any deal for Edinson Cavani
(Daily Express)

- Jose is looking to sign 22 year old Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala and 20 year old Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco van Ginkel. (Daily Star)

And here's another link in the Cavani story, with him stating he would find it a pleasure to play under Mourinho, (But then also states he would also find it a pleasure to play under Pellegrini, so looks like he's isn't sure what's going on).

http://www1.skysports.com/football/n...-Jose-Mourinho

The Mangala story has been mentioned a few times now. He looks to be a decent young defender. First time that Marco Van Ginkel has been linked to us though IIRC.

It seems that the Cavani transfer is the one that's going to be the story throughout the summer.

Also, thought Jose did nicely in his Press Conference. He seems that he's ready to get to work at the club after managing Real Madrid.

"I don't enjoy too much winning 6-0. I don't enjoy a league where you are against one team and it is about 90 points, 92 points, 96 points, 100 points; 100 goals, 110 goals, 120 goals. The number of points Barcelona got last season, finishing second, they would win every other league with this number. The same with Real this season."

"It's a two-horse race (in Spain), and that is a big difference with English football. But also, I missed the mentality of the 90 minutes in England, pushing everybody to the maximum, playing the extra competition [the Capital One Cup], 60 matches, 70 matches, three matches in a row, the Christmas period, the Easter period. Fantastic."

"I'm not saying it's right, I just love it. Sometimes you love things that aren't right. But would I prefer to have a week's holiday in Christmas? I went to New York two years ago, last year Brazil. But I'd prefer to play. I was envious at home, watching the Premier League. Envy. Total envy. Is it right playing four consecutive matches? Probably not. But I love it."

Have I mentioned lately how much I love Jose Mourinho?

Apparently Cavanni dreamed of playing for Chelsea as a child... I imagine growing up in Uruguay it was often they dreamed of playing for a second division English club...

It's as if the agents have a list of sentences to get their players to quote.
