No-one was closing in on Tevez. Poor goal to concede.

Is anyone surprised? Im definitely not, our performances have been shocking recently a result like this has been coming for ages. 2nd best all game.

The talk before the game was about us possibly going above City and coming 2nd. For me, i think we are more likely to finish out the top 4... Arsenal now only 2 points behind us.

12 weeks today and the Rafa nightmare should be over.

Lets forget about this.

You hope!!

The mighty Real Madrid might just be daft enough to take him off your hands.

It was always going to be a tough ask going to City after playing on Thursday and unsuprisingly we gave a completely flat performance. Wouldn't blame Benitez for this one personally, just the punishing schedule.

The problem we have is that we really need to be knocked out of the cups early! I know this sounds mad but we seem waste our energy on these competitions, eventually get beaten and the league form suffers.

I wish we actually had a B-team to put out in Europe but the squad is too thin - if they keep winning fine, if not who cares. Spurs will probably overtake us now which means we are going to be battling against Arsenal who are of course out of all the cups, and therefore can concentrate fully on 4th place.

Rafa's making me not enjoy football. I'm starting to feel genuine hate for the stupid weeble.

Well we'd won four games in a row until that defeat - people seem to forget that Chelsea were top of the league and kicking arse when DiMatteo was in charge, that's because all the players were fresh.

Once it became apparent that the squad was too thin, results began to drop off and DiMatteo got fired - Benitez has faced exactly the same problem (and of course created a few himself).

I actually don't think it matters who is managing Chelsea at this stage - if we are playing two games a week for three months straight with a thin squad we are going to come unstuck against better sides.

The question is are our cup commitments going to jeopardize the league? It's looking more and more likely.

Of course they are, we just have too many games.

Sadly, that is all so true.
Hopeless today, no sense of urgency or desire, we just rolled over. Apart from Gary Cahill, who really put in a shift for us today ? We were flattered by the score, City barely needed to get out of first gear. Now 19 points behind United, but the gulf between us and the very best in Europe is even wider.

Don't people factor in our schedule when judging results? The guys on the pitch aren't superhuman.

Poor stuff. Can't understand why he would take off Hazard.
Not at all convinced we will get top 4.

Our squad is too thin ?..and who's fault is that, we have 23 players out on loan ! Anyway, how many squads is Abramovich expected to buy before we can compete in all competitions ?
Sorry, I don't buy that as an excuse. Today's performance has totally pissed me off. I can accept losing, but not when we lose with apparently so little effort.

We were also hammered by Ath Madrid when the players were fresh. A sign of things to come. Changing the manager when you think a thin squad is to blame makes no sense. Both managers are tactically clueless...that is what I blame for our poor season.

We were missing a few players for a while, but you surely can't deny that Rafa has done a terrible job of using the available players wisely? He tinkers when there is no need, but changes nothing when plan A doesn't work. Many players get no playing time, some players get far too much. His substitutions are unbelievable. His general presence is sucking the life out of the entire club, from the players to the supporters.

Blame the cup commitments if you like, but I feel that's letting the management off too lightly. Players are paid to do more than win 38 league games. It's the managers and the training staffs job to keep them fresh and motivated.

Obviously the season's not yet over but you seem to be going backwards with Rafa.

Some of his decisions are bizarre.

Oh yes, Rafa is completely useless. I have no doubt that soon we will have posts like

"thank you agent rafa, mission accomplished" from LFC fans.

Well the 'give him a chance' pleading appears to have dried up.

Shame Unigal is banned. This would - maybe, possibly - be the one occasion where her thoughts would be worth reading.

To be fair, we have been going backwards for a couple of seasons. Winning the Champions League really was a miracle of epic proportions.
There was a time, not long ago, when we had a couple of quality players challenging for every position. Now we are thin...not in numbers, but in genuine, proven quality.
All I hear all the time is that everything will be fine when the young talent comes through..well, I sincerely hope that's true.

I don't think we'll be back on top until Roman finds and backs a proper manager. All the talent in the world is meaningless without someone to mould them into a team.

Cahill
Cech
Ivan
Cole
Lampard

I wouldn't say that they were bizarre, more normal by Rafa's standards, if this was anyone else, then I would agree with them being described that way.

Definately. I said a few weeks ago top 4 was in doubt and nothing to change my mind since.
We are far worse off with him in charge.
