We did bring in Ramires and Luiz, so we were gradually making changes. Carvalho went, never quite sure what happened there, I thought he was worth another season or so. Ballack was released, so our midfield was suddenly weaker. Did Essien get the first of his injuries then as well ?
I liked Ancelotti, and believe he would have gradually changed the structure of the team.
The problem was, we hadn't declined enough to warrant wholesale changes, and as I said we looked pretty darned good at times. But I agree, it was left too late and in the end we were reduced to making a few panic buys. Rebuilding should be a constant job.”

He was amazing in that season but it was after that he started to not decline but it was never quite the same, Not saying we should have written him off but rather phased him very slowly out when in fact we became more relient on him. He actually played more games for us the season after then the double season (from memory)

I just think maybe people inside the club could see he was slower at making the changes then they would have liked. I had no problem with the guy and yes i think he would have done it in the end but sadly at Chelsea time is the one thing we can not buy. We seem to buy a player the season we need him and not like some clubs a season or so before and swap between the 2 and get the best of both of them.

Man Utd rebuild their team without anyone really noticing as its a slow process and more sutle then our attempts at it.

Cech Ferreira Ivanovic Terry Bertrand Ramires Ake Moses Oscar Benayoun Torres

Subs - Turnbull Cole Luiz Lampard Hazard Marin Ba

Would prefer Marin and anyone else in place of Benayoun and Torres, but I'm fairly happy with that line-up.

The Marin situation gets weirder by the game.

I was just looking if it was on TV tonight and saw this

“The match will NOT be shown live on TV, but a special 45-minute highlights programme will be broadcast on ITV4 at 10.30pm this evening.”

I would like to have seen Luiz in a midfield role, the more chances he gets to play there the better as far as I'm concerned. Benayoun ?..don't know to be honest, haven't seen much of him recently. He was a clever player and probably under-rated, has he lost it now ?..if so play Marin.
Torres might as well play, save Ba for the WBA game. If he's ever going to turn it on again, even briefly, a game against Boro is as good a chance as any.

From the last double fixture international break in October I count in the last 36 games you've only had 2 weeks without a midweek game, both of them were internationals. Up to the next international break in March there will have been 23 weeks and 42 games in a row where you will have had a midweek game (if you played for both club and country in the few internationals in between).

"They have to support the team. They gave me the title of interim manager which is a massive mistake. I am the manager and I will manage this club. The fans are not helping us.

"I am a professional and I will do my job. At the end of the season I will leave.

I don't blame him.

Fans prefer to send a club down the plughole rather than be imposed on.

He is going anyway, so why cause further conflict shouting the club down?
