Yes but they was playing a good team from the best league in Europe (expecting Sky to sue me for that comment). Also a team who had only this to play for.

Watched the game as refuse to watch any football on ITV (the home of tv for the brain dead) unless i am forced to and its Chelsea on. They had a bad day at the office and was poor but you can not label them a bad team just because of that one game (they let a goal in a late goal in the first leg to draw the game)

Yes we should have qualifed from the group but it was one of those groups where strange things can happen

See Joey Cole is going to make some enemies in the North West of England today.

Said he made a mistake going to Liverpool but his only other option was Spurs and with his affinity to Chelsea and West Ham, just couldn't do it.

Also said words were put into his mouth for the headline 'I am going to the biggest club in the country'

Oh dear Joey...you'd better stay dahn saaarf for a while.

Utd got it spot on over the 2 legs, and yes, the red card changed the game, we know...only too well, how sub par UEFA refs are, it's heartbreaking. But yes, did highlight, to me anyway, how much we had to really dig in to beat Barca with 10 men, still don't get enough credit for that.”

It could be, on the other hand it could just be motivated by his friendship with SAF. The two of them do appear to genuinely hit it off together.
I think he would join us again, if Abramovich approached him in the right way..but that's a tall order given Roman's track record, it wouldn't just be a question of money.

Agree with you about the game last night. The sending-off gave me no pleasure, even though it was United. A straight red was absurdly harsh, and it ruined a fascinating game.
Still, the Europa League is the only competition left with any British interest now.

He also sent off Gary Cahill in the CWC. Has there been any footage for that? I honestly can't remember why he was even sent off...

Now that it's official that Rafa is leaving the club at the end of the season, I assume the board is already in the middle of finding the new manager.

They really need to get this one right. Roman needs to be completely happy with who he's appointing because it's seriously gone too far now with these short term options.

Sure we've managed to win trophies but surely with stability in the managers position we could have won more. We've had some really talented managers at the club since Roman's reign and some of them had great success. It's now at a point where he should establish who is manager is and give him the opportunity to do their job without being worried of Roman getting rid after a couple of poor games.

Would it be nice to see Jose back? Absolutely, but not if Roman's going to get rid as soon as there's some negative results. He has to find a manager he can work with.

On to the Europa League it is then. Any kind of victory would be nice but would take a score draw back to Stamford Bridge to get a result there and progress to the next round of the tournament.”

Yup, I hope we give 100% tomorrow. If everything goes well, there will be less pressure for the return game. We have the quality, we just need to turn up!

I definitely won't shed a tear when Rafa leaves at the end of the season (well I might shed a tear of happiness ) but what I will say is at least he's finally being HONEST with himself. My respect for him has increased by about 0.05%. All that talk about winning fans over by winning trophies; not exactly going well so far but to be fair, we are still in 2 cup competitions so all is not lost!

Definitely. We are the favourites in the Europa League (for some reason). We definitely have a chance of winning the thing if we try.

Plus if we win it it's another trip to the Super Cup. lol

What I don't get with Rafa is he kept going about being named an interim manager, but he knew that was the case anyway! If you didn't like it, don't take the job.

Jose seems to be auditioning for the Utd job, so maybe we will have to look elsewhere.

No Moses or Ramires tomorrow, but Benayoun is back (Woooo! etc..)

Another crack at the Super Cup would be nice, providing we actually show up for it next time.

Or until we have a manager with even the remotest idea of what he is doing

Hope this means Demba Ba is starting on Sunday though hard to tell with him being cup tied for this competition. A rested Mata would also be welcome.

It's so wrong that I'm excited to see a penalty awarded against us. I'm *that* desperate for something eventful to happen

And...they score....

This is pretty much the same performance from Prague.

Only this time the opposition has got a goal.

Don't worry - I'm sure the game will liven up when we bring one one of our 5 defensive options.

I forgot this game started at 6pm...I thought it would be a 7:45 kick off.

Why do we make things harder for ourselves? FFS at least play for the fans who spent money going all the way there!

They clearly don't want to be there.

They don't seem to think much of playing in the Europa League.

United are going to tear us to pieces.

That was just not a good performance at all.

They just don't seem to be trying to win the Europa League even though it is a winnable competition.

If we're not going to be up for this I'd rather we were put out of our misery next week. Feel sorry for the travelling fans, at least if we'd lost to Ajax they'd have been able to salvage the trip.
