It's at that stage now where i'm really questioning why i'm still bothering to watch our games whilst Benitez is in charge. It's not just the results, it's the insipid performances week after week that make it so hard to take.

We used to comfortably beat these kind of teams. Just goes to show how much of a better side we used to have.

Can't believe that, in a season where we signed Hazard, Oscar and Moses, I have to rely on Tottenham for entertaining football.

They'd better not be rubbish tonight.

Surely VM has to be given an opportunity as a striker.

Ask myself the same question, but can't bring myself to not watch. As much as I don't think now is the time for manager hunting I can't see any situation that would be worse than this.

Another poor preformance didn't see the match but by SSN the other team wanted it more.

Was looking forward to the match on Sunday but now after this and with the travelling and Utd. not having played from tuesday it might be a disaster to meet them on Sunday.
Was never one to bad mouth managers but i can't wait to see the back of RB. Roll on May.

I was out, so didn't see any of it. Just read a couple of match reports and it sounds like we were dreadful. It's beyond belief that we have only one (out of form) striker eligible for this competition, when we have sold Sturridge, and loaned out Lukaku and Piazon.
Like others, I'm losing interest. Fed up with talking about it, and saying the same things over and over again. The problems are of our own making.

I diddnt even watch but sounds like I diddnt miss anything. I just want this season to be over now, but we still have to get top 4...

I will add one more thing. We can't lay all the blame on Benitez, he's just the fall-guy. In addition to apponting a new manager, Abramovich needs to implement a complete clear out of the hangers-on and yes-men that surround him. They have failed the club.
This hasn't been a season of "transition", it's been a season of stagnation. We have the nucleus of a good side, someone needs to take a long hard look at the players on our books. Get rid of any dead weight, then bring back those youngsters who are ready to form our future. Then add maybe three or four new signings and move foward.

Dread the thought of how long our dead-weight list would be. (I'm sure mine would be at least twice as long as the clubs)

They wernt, the difference bewtween the 2 games was amazing, both teams looked far superior. Be very afraid on the 14th April.
Didnt understand the commetators for our match about players on loan, can you play unlimited players for cups? (ie AKA v Boro)

Agreed. Gourlay, Buck and Emenalo should be following Benitez out of the door. I'd love to know which genius is responsible for loaning out all those players this season, letting Drogba, Kalou and Meireles go without replacing them, and for some bizarre reason freezing out Malouda when we're short enough of players anyway. As you said earlier, the problems are all of our own making.

I genuinely would love to knwo what Roman is thinking about what he's seeing???
All that money spent to turn us into an average team that's going nowhere fast.

If he saw one of his bussiness start going downhill in this way then i'm sure that some very serious qustions would be asked and it wouln't be just one person doing the same job who keeps being changed every year.

I would accept finishing outside the top 4 if it actually meant Roman finally waking up and realising the errors of his way, including a clear-out of the idiots he employs to mis-manage the club. A season of no CL football would be a small price to pay for that. If one or two of our players decided to move on because of it, then so be it - most of them haven't applied themselves enough for us this season anyway. Trouble is I'm not convinced it would make any difference.

I'm another one who didn't see the game, but from what i've heard we looked tierd, slow and lacking inspiration. But lets be fair, apart from all the other obvious problems, we have played more games than anyother team this season, and tierdness is starting to tell.

We've still got Utd and Liverpool away and Gareth Bale at home, so with the way we are playing there's plenty more dropped points heading our way.
A top four finish is going to be very difficult, so i'd be more than happy to go out of both Cups if it helps our desperate fight for the top four.

I'd like to believe it's down to fatigue from all the games we've played but it seems to me that a lack of effort is a factor as much as anything. You can trace that all the way back to the Super Cup early in the season when tiredness was definitely not an excuse.
Dixon

I think the players saw the Super Cup the same way as the World Club Championship - meaningless, waste of time and energy.
NinjyBear

If any players really think like that then they should be shipped out ASAP.

I can't imagine any of them feel that way, but there are certainly too many who aren't putting in the required effort on a regular basis. There were games under Di Matteo where we had that problem, but it's gotten a whole lot worse in recent months.

Another good finish from Lukaku.

(Poor penalty, though)

^ Yep, had a quick look at his stats earlier. He's scored 13 goals in 26 PL games (13 starts, 13 sub appearances).

By comparison Torres has netted 7 goals in 28 PL games (23 starts, 5 sub appearances).

Hmm....

Yup, but we had all this last year "When can we get Sturrage back, he keeps scoring for Bolton" look what happened.

Anyone else worried about the game today? Just think we could get mullered, think a really bad result like 5-0 or worse had been coming for us for a while now... Our performances in 2013 have been shocking

Yea i'm a bit worried as well, will not see the game as i am heading to see One Direction (yes i know ) with my daughter. Will be cheering the boys on but am not expecting a great result.

Am thinking i hope it's a result either way as i don't think we need a replay...................no room for it and also too many games alreay.

Well I think it's nailed on for a draw and a replay to add to the number of games played.
Probably go extra time as well.

Think we will get hammered myself. If Liverpool beat Spurs then it would soften the defeat for me.
NinjyBear
10-03-2013
I'm also expecting us to be hammered. No excuse for a lack of effort today. If the players don't even try I think I'll be heading to One Direction concerts instead of watching us again this season......
