Video calls on mobile phones
Video calling has been available on mobile phones for over 10 years yet I never use it because most the places I go I can't get a decent 3G signal and when I can its ususally really poor quality or I end up getting cut off. Also my network provider charges me extra on my tariff to make video calls so hence I've never bothered to use it.
With the invention of smartphones and Skype which simply comes off your data allowance, is in built video calling now a redundant feature which never really took off? |

I'm not even sure that many people are using Skype video from their mobiles. I've used it at my desktop and with a laptop frequently, and I've seen other people using tablets, but I assume these are all WiFi connected as they are always in locations where WiFi is available.
Video calls really need you to be stationary, so mobile phones aren't the best device. I think this was a dream of analysts, used to build the business case for 3G, but users never really wanted it. |

I've only ever made 2 or 3 video calls and they were incoming calls. Video calling is simply too expensive and I don't use Skype on my mobile and no one I know does. People hardly seem to even voice call now its all texts and messengers like WhatsApp.
