As the tile says, i have the silver box still, but have upgraded to bt infinity. So what version of bt vision is it. the software version says 2.something so is that bt vision 2, and will i therefore be able to get the linear channels which are coming ...sometime in the future.

Silver boxes are definitely Vision 1 and, due to their age & spec, unlikely to ever get Vision 2 and hence linear channels. The Black boxes are currently being upgraded from Vision 1 to Vision 2 so will be able to get the linear channels when they're launched - hopefully soon?

Hi, steveq3.

No, you don't need to pay £50 for a new Vision box, to get the upcoming BT linear channels. One only needs to be on the BT Vision 2.0 platform.

The linear channels will not be available on the new YouView platform, initially. They will only be available to BT Vision 2.0 box users. And there may be other requirements too, which, if there are, have yet to be announced.

Yes, thats right. But BT have been replacing the silver boxes for free (as they did with me).

However, in saying the above, I am quite surprised there still seems to be quite a few silver boxes in circulation.

Sadly - nothing. The big announcement on BT's page is still that of Rizzle Kicks performing live in HD on the ‘BT Infinity Presents’ interactive YouTube channel.

Are you sure you want to do that?

As the new BT Vision 2.0 platform is very unstable. I've had the service for two weeks, and I've had to reboot the box twice. And for some users, it's even worse than that. But if you want to find out if you can, contact the BT moderators and they'll let you know -
