What's Chris Upto?
The fact that Chris has yet to give an interview to the press and the fact that he has apparently left, or is about to leave the country on holiday (according to his father in a snippet I read this morning) just at the point where his own story is of premium (and I reckon considerable) value suggests to me one of three things:
1) he's hoping to be welcomed back into the fold and onto the tour and is behaving himself (he'd have to be very naive to go along with this but it is possible and his twitter messages today have been of a somewhat conciliatory nature) 2) He has sold his story to a tabloid and it will be published as an exclusive, most probably this coming Sunday (This is quite possible) 3) He has been bought off by Cowell. He may not appear on the tour but he may have already been paid more than he could have earned from it. Such a payoff would of course also buy his silence, barring him from commenting on the nuts and bolts or selling his story at any point. (again, quite possible) What do others think? |

I thought it was interesting that he's taking a holiday because he wants to be left alone - and we know this because his dad told the press where he's going. It's almost like he wants them to follow him out there and take snaps of him on the beach like a proper celeb.

I would be quite happy if it was option 3. The less I hear from or about him again, the better. I think it's more likely to be option 1 though and I hope he doesn't succeed.
I think that options 2 and 3 are unlikely because if there's no evidence that he was actually bullied as he claims then 2) If he tells a paper that he was, he risks a libel suit and 3) There's no need to part with huge sums of money to buy his silence because of (2) |

Any one of these options listed could be possible, it's not the first that Cowell has paid someone off. When the story and pictures came out of Cheryl meeting up with Cowell and then a few days later the story about her suing the x factor in the usa, cynical as I am, I wondered if cowell was offering to pay her off

I'm pretty sure 1) at the moment, at least I hope so, and then he can have a calm down and a proper think about what to do next, it's been a rough few days

The viewing figures for this last series were awful and - Chris-bashing aside - the media just weren't interested in the show. It is more than possible that ITV will decide they can make better use of the prime time weekend slots next autumn. The show really cannot afford a 'fix' scandal. Make no mistake, the producers really did get a bit reckless this year. They repeated the usual stunts and added a few more but the subtlety of past years was gone. Between that and the poor viewing figures, the show is vulnerable to very bad PR. |
