I think that more than ever before Lord Sugar made up his mind who he wanted to win before this series even began.
There is a bit of a clue when he decides which teams the individuals go into.
He really likes Steven and Ashleigh. They are the two he seems most keen on and he is testing them both.

Choosing a different career than business doesn't necessarily imply you couldn't have suceeded in business.
Yes, but it might mean you're more cut out for something else. It's like what Lord Sugar said about his head teacher; he told him of his aspirations to be a scientist, and the head teacher bluntly told him that that wasn't something he was right for. I think Sugar saw the same in Navdeep.

Well, Steven got fired. And sometimes he lets people choose who they want in their teams (more in the early series than now).

I think he has people in mind to win from the start, but I don't think he's averse to changing his mind. Andrew, for example, was someone he didn't used to like, and grew on him.
