I am currently using the iphone 5, and I like it. But the galaxy note 2 does look really tempting and considering I could do a straight swap with the phone shop I'm abit stuck on if I should or not. Few questions I would like to ask first:

What do you think is the better phone?
Would it be worth a straight swap?
Would the note 2 have good resale value? Ie I always like the latest phone, and if I got the note 2, could I still sell it when galaxy s4 comes out and get a good price for it?

The iPhone should in theory have a better resale value. The note 2 is more like a tablet than a phone, but that's just my opinion.

Currently I have both the iPhone 5 and Galaxy Note 2.
If you are already happy with the iphone then I would suggest you keep it, the Note while a powerful phablet is just that, bigger than a phone, smaller than a tablet.
Battery life on both in normal use is about a day and a half.
For media playback the note is better suited due to the screen and the out of the box ability to playback any formats, where as the iPhone would need the files converting.
I usually take the phone to work as I send more txts emails etc during that time, and iPhone at other times.

I have had an iPhone 4s before and I am on the Note 2 at the moment (via a BB 9900 and then a HTC One X).

Battery life on the Note 2 is... erm... well.... erm.... freaking awsome. Everyone I know who has an iP5 (and 4s) are complaining about battery life. Of course, the battery in the Note 2 is changeable anyway.

I look at my wifes 4s now and it just seems soooo small compared to the Note.

The note is fast and smooth and has some neat features (that im sure one day Apple will use, call it something else and then slap a patent on them) like the smart stay (keeps the screen on while your reading), mulit-window (two apps on screen at once), Quick peek (hover your hand over the sensors to get the screen to light up dimly so you can see the time and notifications), it vibrates when you pick the phone up if you have a message or missed call,

2 browsing windows side by side. Or a browser and another app running next to it.

The battery life on the Galaxy Note 2 is absolutely mindblowing!! It's actually HARD to drain the battery which is freaking awesome!

Which is expected as it's the size of a continent.

I would have gone with the size of a Solar System or Nebula...

Just change. The iPhone 5 seems like yesterday and the Note 2 like tomorrow.

Have you used a Note 2 yet? It really is massive, and by that I mean over twice as big 114kmm^3 vs 55kmm^3 and 63% heavier.

If after using it you like it's size and weight then by all means change to it but definitely try it first.

iPhones tend to keep the best sale values mainly because of expensive contracts required to get one.

For example CEX are paying £357 for an iPhone 5 and £306 for a Note 2. If you look at last year, CEX are paying £255 for an iPhone 4S but only £167 for the Note to give you an idea of depreciation.

If its a change to Android you want, have you considered the Galaxy S3 or the Nexus 4?

Cex prices are always a rip off. I could sell my iphone tonight for 450£ no problem. Also you will notice the big difference in cex buying a iphone 5 or note 2 in, but they sell them for around the same price

I'm looking at chucking my S3 and getting a not 2 as i want a bigger phone but dont want a tablet.

I have used one and its a joy to use compared to the same old user experience on the iphone. I actually preferred it over my S3 as well!

Indeed! We got one in Dundee not long ago and its constantly dead because of the stupid prices. £159 for a 4gb xbox where across the road argos had them new for £149. They wouldnt budge on price either.

Lol yeah I do agree, how would you have expressed the area of each device?

As its bigger in every direction it seemed the best way at the time.

Anyway my point was that the op needs to actually use one, don't just go with pictures, although here is some for a perspective http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Sa...Phone-5_id3152
