I also think it's fake. But it's weird that they'd come up with this concept, go all the way to Africa, recruit locals, and film people acting
I found the 'attack' quite amusing. I can't believe it was true at all. The best bit was them running in to the crew's car and this dialogue:
"What did they take George?"
"They took the gold Scott!"
(George then gets out of the car in rage but gets right back in!)
And the fact that after meeting with an underground gold criminal and being highly suspicious, then stumbling across the highly unusual road block (pieces of wood), they decided to both get out of the car leaving the windows and doors open and a bag of £75k of gold to move a few bits of wood. Rather than turning around or driving around the wood (they had a Landrover after all).
I've only seen bits of each episode. How are George and Scott (they keep saying each others names I've noticed!) qualified in gold mining or how on earth did they decide to fly to Africa to start mining gold... one of them seemed to know straight away what the gold was worth etc. Where are they living in Africa?
I find the two of them quite funny really. I don't know if they're actors or what, I can't work it out and I'm not sure about all the other characters that pop up - for example the English guy in this last episode who seemed like a real idiot
