Problem accessing emails on iphone 4

For the last 2 days i've noticed no emails from my btinternet email account have been coming through to my iphone when i click on mail it says "checking mail" then "updated" then the message appears "Cannot get mail, connection to the server failed".
I have gone to the settings on iphone and it all looks fine so i don't understand whats gone wrong. I have gone onto yahoo and logged into my emails ok and there were 11 emails that have not apoeared on the phone.
Is this an iphone problem, o2 (my network provider) or a btinternet problem?

Try deleting the account and adding it again... assuming that it auto detects the settings. There may of been a change somewhere.
