Do you know what I think my main dislike about the Stug pairing has been. Doug's inability to listen to Ste or even try to understand anything, beyond his little knowledge. Like, when Ste shoved him after Pauline arrived, he clearly knew something was wrong with Ste, but didn't let him explain at all. Same with the Riley memorial.
ETA - Sorry, I know this was completely out of the blue, but I was just re-watching and he bugged me a lot because of it.

Yeah I didn't watch for a good few months this year, I don't think I missed much. It's nice to be here for the end of Stendan, we were there at the beginning

Poor Doug, I think he just so wants to hold on to Ste that he thinks burying their problems is the best solution. Kind of like he didn't try to push the point over why Ste was bleeding.

See, I think it is just part of Doug. He has done it with other characters and in other stories as well.
It seems to be a consistent trait that I dislike about him. You'd think for someone with a colourful past, he'd be a bit more understanding.

I've always liked the character of Ste, even from the first episode I saw him wandering around in school uniform and Amy trailing after him, literally the lovesick school girl
I liked how complex he was, and I liked his flaws. I obviously lost a bit of the love during the times he was hurting Amy and saying Leah was ill for cash, but I always thought Kieron played him amazingly even in the times where I didn't like Ste so much.I liked Brendan from the moment I saw him in the newcomers promo. It must be something about Emmett because I'd never seen him act

It's great that old faces are appearing for what could be the last and best of Brendan, if we're lucky.

I think Doug is just desperate to believe they're happy. He doesn't want to delve into any problems, because he probably knows he wouldn't get the answers he wants. That's my reading, anyway.

I remember completely and utterly hating Ste back when and that was down to the fact Kieron played an absolute blinder in being a bastard, to be perfectly honest. He just had a vicious way with words that made me really dislike him. It was only as things went on, that I started to take to him and see why he was like it. Since then he has just gone up and up in my books.
Can't judge on Emmetts arrival as I wasn't watching at this time. I remember all the newcomers and thinking, Jesus do they really need any more? I don't think I saw any of Emmetts stuff until he killed Danny. Even then I didn't stick around for a great deal because I hadn't a clue what was going on.
