Who will not be serving Brussel sprouts with their Christmas meal. To serve them over Christmas appears obligatory for one reason or another. Dreadful things

Yes I will be. They are lovely if you do something more with them than just boil them. Which spoils most veg, not just brussels.

This is a bit like what I would normally do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkEWhIf_Apg

The one I make has marsalla in it too, they are yummy.

What they said.

Pan fry them and they are delish. Add bacon and they are even better.

Do you have to boil them? Try parboiling and frying and adding different ingredients to make them taste nicer. I sometime make tandoori style sprouts. They're nice, even sprout haters have eaten them.

I must have eaten them before but can't remember when............probably whem Mum was making my Christmas dinner 30 years ago.............I certainly haven't eaten them since

However I'm trying to eat more veg so i bought a bag this week and I've been having 10-12 of them with my dinner every day...........I've boiled them and had them with a bit of butter on............they're OK, it's not ice cream, but I can eat them

I've also tried asparagus for the first time..............I reckon they're about equal

yum exactly, I have them in the freezer all the time, great in casseroles, lovely shredded in stirfrys, chopped up in curries and mashed down into the homemade lentil soup, great for the kids vit intake.

i must admit i do like fresh ones raw

Emphatically not.

They are revolting in every way, no matter how they're cooked.

People always say "Ooooh, you must be overcooking them, or have bad memories from when people used to boil them for ages".

.... Well yes that's true.... but they are no better 'properly' cooked. Disgusting.

(And they're Brussels sprouts... sorry to be pedantic!)

We will be - my brother doesn't like them much, I don't mind them and my dad likes them. I'm thinking of doing them with bacon though, and possibly something else to make them more 'interesting', but I don't know what.

So I'm not the only one!!

Agree with all of the above, sprouts are probably my favourite veg.

My niece is 4 and she will eat anything, even sprouts, she pulls a face but they go down alright. Me i don't mind a few once or twice a year. Anyone ever had sprout soup?, that might be nice for a change.

I can remember the days my Grandfather would go out into the garden and come in with a stalk of brussels still covered in frost.

You MUST have Brussel sprouts on your Christmas dinner - it's the law you know !
But they must be cooked Al Dente, with a pinch of sugar in the water

Sprouts are my favourite veg! I have them all year round (unless they aren't available ) I'm the only one that likes them but my Husband has one on his Christmas Dinner and he calls them 'Pumpers'.
