Who do you want to win Young Apprentice 2012? (This thread may contain spoilers)
Ashleigh, Lucy, Maria or Patrick? Who do you hope is hired by Lord Sugar?

I'm hoping it'll be either Ashleigh or Lucy.

Preferably Lucy, but I would be happy to see Ashleigh win. I was particularly impressed by her on the festival task, she did well, I thought.
Patrick isn't brilliant, but he has done some things that are good, and I do think that he has possibly been given an unfair edit. At any rate, I like him even if I don't rate him as a contender on what we've been shown... I'd rather he won than Maria. |

Lucy is posh and wants to be a lawyer - there isn't a cat's chance in hell Sugar will pick her, likeable and competent though she seems to be.

Out of the four, I do think that Lucy is by far the best, but Ashleigh is slowly getting my begrudging respect. I think Ashleigh will win for the simple reason that Lucy is too similar to Zara.

My picks
Winner: Ashleigh 2nd Lucy 3rd Patrick 4th Maria Ashleigh's the most mature and switched on of the finalists, so I genuinely hope he picks her. |

Mature?? Well possibly in the sense of looking full grown.. but she is almost as in-your-face as Maria.

I'm positive it will be a girl since Patrick doesn't offer all that much, I like all three of them but I'm hoping Maria can take it.. she's had the most airtime out of them all even though that doesn't contribute much to it.

Ashleigh, on the grounds that she seems reasonably competent and I find her the least irritating.

Ashleigh. She's sensible, she has a very good head for business, and she seems absolutely lovely. Honest, polite, eager - perfect personality for an Apprentice. This is a one horse race in my head.
Which probably means Patrick will win. Which I'm... actually absolutely fine with, should his team win the task. I was initially a bit annoyed he'd got through, particularly at the expense of a candidate like Steven, as he's basically drifted under the radar for seven weeks, but then my brother pointed out to me - he's got his own business, I'm presuming he makes all his own clothes, I'm sure he'd spend the £25,000 well. He wouldn't just spend it on laptops. Possibly a lot more viable than I ever gave him credit for. |

He wouldn't just spend it on laptops. Possibly a lot more viable than I ever gave him credit for. I like it that you've said that about Patrick, because there is so much Patrick hate on here, and I actually really like him. He's done some truly awful things, particularly in the first two weeks, and we haven't seen him do very many good things, but he actually comes across as being really nice, really genuine and surprisingly capable at times. I think he has had an unfortunate edit. Generally anything good he might have done has been glossed over, and if you take out the first two weeks, you can't really pinpoint anything dreadful that he's done. If Maria and Patrick win the task, I definitely want Patrick to win, not just because I like him, but also because I really don't think Maria should win. She's not that bad on the tasks, but I still remember what a nightmare she was in the cookery book task. It doesn't help that I really did like Sean, and I was annoyed that Maria survived over him as I thought he was much better than her. Patrick over Maria any day. |

Wasnt Ashleigh really horrifically unhelpful on the cookery book task as well? That in itself causes me to have my doubts about her...although I don't mind who wins from the other three, I'd go for Lucy except that she's going to be a lawyer and Sugar's not fond of thos historically.

Horrible final 4 imo. Lucy is the only one I'd be happy with. Patrick is invisible, Maria is a complete gobshite and Ashleigh is a nasty piece of work.

I agree with you about Maria. While I don't agree about Patrick as I think is down to editing, I see your point. I don't understand your view on Ashleigh?
For what it's worth I think Patrick is going to win. He's shown absolutely nothing useful in 7 weeks. I'm expecting a humongously positive edit where he blossoms in the heat of battle Lucy - obviously competent, posh girl - too much like Zara Ashleigh - good with numbers - sugar likes these types but only up to a point Maria - loud woman - likes this type too - usually finish second! Probably completely wrong but that's my tuppenceworth Last edited by henman : 17-12-2012 at 23:34. Reason: Heat of bottle! |

Interesting that you think Patrick's general uselessness is down to the edit, but Maria is a gobshite. She is a bit over the top but I might suggest there may be an editing issue there too. All of the others seem to like both Patrick and Maria so I'd suggest neither are getting a good edit.

Probably completely wrong but that's my tuppenceworth Maria has criticised most of the project managers that she has worked with, she is very domineering, she likes to get her own way and is not always right. Patrick made some big mistakes the first time he was Project Manager, and was particularly weak in Task 2 (cookery book), but since then, can you actually recall anything really bad he has done? True, we haven't seen very much good from him either, but the edits could be glossing over that. Maria might be getting a bad edit, but she still did all the irritating things that we see her do, whereas with Patrick, we just aren't being shown very much at all. |

Maria has improved greatly over the weeks and is the one most obviously learning through the process. Originally loud, stubborn and invariably wrong, she is now more likely to listen to her colleagues.
Considering what on Dragons Den might be termed investability brings us to Patrick whose fashion design business looks like a long term vocation and is scalable. Rather than developing, Ashleigh seems to be regressing through the process and has become like an early-period Maria: loud and with no respect for anyone else's opinion. She remains, however, the only candidate with any clear idea on costs and margins, and this might be colouring her view of the others. Whether she has any business acumen aside from knowing how one ought to be run in order to remain solvent, is unclear. Her biography mentions Ashleigh having two jobs but does not say what they are. Lucy's cakes in the tea task looked divine but aside from opening a patisserie in one of the wealthier parts of town, it is not clear where this leads. That said, £25,000 would come in handy for opening a shop. The festival task was most disappointing since it confirmed a lack of commercial acumen on the part of all the candidates. Their product selection showed no vision of market or customer, no imagination. It is a theme that has run through this series, from covering children in paint to pointlessly halving the cookery book market to get the word "women" onto the cover. I'd not be outraged whichever of them wins but this has been a dull year. |

I think she's horrible. I find her rude, unpleasant and plain nasty at times. She's overly aggressive in her manner and the sort of female I would hate to have working on my team. She doesn't appear to realise that being assertive and being rude are not the same thing. She has no respect for anyone elses point of view and just speaks over people and shouts down those who disagree. She's far too keen on the sound of her own voice as well and talks a lot but doesn't listen.
