Has anyone else had a Galaxy S3 screen crack from out of nowhere? It was fine one minute. Then I picked it up and noticed a crack running from just to the left of the earpiece diagonally to just under the lock/power key.

It was literally one minute to the next. No bashing, no contact, was just sitting on my desk in the semi-cushioned case.

Spoke to my local Samsung outfit and they said the screen is not covered by warranty, although the engineer will take a look at it to determine if it's a phone fault. Told me I'd be out £120+VAT to fix if not a phone fault. I can't believe a screen that cracks on its own with no impact could be a user fault.

Mmm seems strange, Just done a google search and a few people have had the same problem and from what I can see it seems to be the early release models....

You could call mine an early release model - got it the day before general release!

Its defo a fault in the early designs by the sounds of it then cos its on quiet a few forums and they say the screens have been changed from the early ones,
I would be kicking up a stick with Samsung cos they must know about this problem and if they start been funny say your going to trading standards and they may just sort it to avoid the hassle pal

All back in the summer, do you know if this is still happening? I can't find anything recent about it. I'd still like to know how you can tell if your phone is an "early model" like someone above said. It's only been out 6 months, surely they are all the same model?

No. There were manufacturing faults when the phone first came out, mainly with the pebble blue version, which is what led the blue version to have a limited supply.

But that has since been fixed.

I've no idea, but mine is also pebble blue.

The OP knows they got a first batch though because they got it the day before release.
