Fans of the Eastenders Omnibus may be pleased to know that it is moving back to Sunday from 30th December, however this time it will be on BBC Two at around 11:30am.

It stays on BBC Two after Christmas/New Year.

I'm really glad about that...for me, the Sunday omnibus was almost like a tradition, and I knew I could always catch up if I missed some episodes during the week.

Is there a source for this?

Never really watched it (prefer iPlayer) but it was nice to catch up on sometimes, unlike the saturday one that went on until about 2am!

I use DigiGuide which has listings up to 11th January, I don't think there's been an official anouncement yet though.

Mixed feelings about this. Whereas on sunday it's always been a tradition to watch it with my sunday dinner, I do like getting back from the pub on a friday night and sitting down to watch it. But hey, there's BBCiPlayer these days so either way it doesn't matter.

Sensible decision I think. Most people are free on Sunday mornings compared to Friday nights.

Big improvement! But it would be better if it was on BBC1 in the afternoon!

I like having the Omnibus on Sundays. It's nice to flick in and out of it during the afternoon when you're busy.

Thank the Lord for that.

My broadband speed is like a snail in mud so I Player is out for me. Also I tend to be so knackered on a Friday night and needing to get up for stuff on Saturday morning that for last 6 months, if I don't see it on the mid evening weekday showing (News and Newsnight 10 to 11.15 so the BBC 3 repeat is out too), I just don'tt see it, unlike Corrie or Emmerdale which I always manage to catch up with on one of the early morning weekend repeats.

There is something very cosy about 2 hours of EE round about Sunday brunch / lunch time.

I used to watch EE when it aired on BBC1 through the week but then fell into the Sunday omnibus which it deserves I think. What rates better on BBC1 on Sunday at 1pm-4pm now anyway? Nothing, according to the ratings thread, I think? The way BBC has moved the 25 year+ omnibus tradition and the BBC3 repeat back to 10.30pm each night makes the fans think they dont respect the show enough. There are some great actors and a loyal audience. We just want the good stories! The audience will always be there if it is in the slots that is has always been.

Very true. All they've been putting on on Sunday afternoons are repeats of Bargain Hunt, Cash in the Attic and Escape to the Country. Danny Cohen's original excuse for moving the omnibus is that live sport disrupts the schedules... what live sport does the BBC have on Sundays? Apart from the Olympics, the Wimbledon men's final and the handful of Formula One races it has left, there is none.

I can't help but feel that shunting the omnibus off to midnight on Saturday morning and the BBC Three repeats to 10.30 has dented people's perception of the programme. It really is as if the BBC don't have confidence in it. Moving the Omnibus back to Sundays is a step in the right direction but it should be on BBC One.

Well personally I prefer having the BBC3 repeat at 10.30 so it's only against the ocal news and weather. Basically in my families, parents, inlaws, and my own home, you watch the 10pm news no matter what else is on as it is the only major one you are home for. I'm sure a lot of other people are simiar.

What I don't understand is why they don't have a BBC3 omnibus over the weekend.

I agree. I can't believe those awful property and antiques shows are now infecting the schedules at weekends.

You should all thanks me for eastenders going back to sunday afternoons i contacted the bbc on the 12th december 2012 and told them why fix it if its not broken i said i cant get to watch eastenders in the week because i dont get time and sundays is my only day off and i cant watch it at midnight till 2.00 in the morning on a friday night as ive got to be up in the morning for work so next thing i got was an email from the bbc saying they moved it to a friday night because eastenders use to interfere with some sports programmes on sundays but said they'd look into it then they got back to me again and said they would put it back on a sunday afternoon on bbc2
