CS - Leeane - hypocrite?
I can't be the only one who finds Leeane's holier than thou attitude a tad annoying?
I know Carla was out of order picking up Simon in the car whilst drunk, and then going on a bender, but why does Leeane ALWAYS have to make out she is Mrs Perfect? She was ( and still is IMO) a right little madam, and was an arsonist, prostitute and committed fraud in her previous life. I warmed to her slightly when she helped Peter through his cold turkey and on to recovery and took Simon under her wing, but she is now showing that a leopard doesn't change its spots, |

Do we really need another anti-Leanne thread?
I might not always agree with her decisions in the past, but she's moved on since then... Her prostitution, arson and fraud stuff was years ago... She's grown up a lot since Peter and Simon came into her life. |

As the title suggests it is anti-Leeane, I guess it gives you the option of whether you want to read it or not? |

Well she's a good mother and puts Simon first so personally I don't think her past actions have any bearing on her current standing.
I must add I really like Peter, both as a character and Chris' portrayal. But you can't say he's always put Simon first, he loves him of course, but has definitely acted selfishly to the detriment of his son. |

I don't think it has anything to do with what she's done in her past. You don't drive, let alone pick up a kid, while drunk. She has every right to be angry at Carla, it's her child

Every soap character changes their personality every week - it's the writers, they either forget the character or think we have forgotten how they are.

I don’t see Leanne as a hypocrite. I see her as a scorned, vindictive and bitter woman. In this storyline she has played all them roles. She loves / loved Peter and Simon, she had a family life with them and a business with Peter. She thought they were happy.
Then Carla comes along and Peter leaves her, he moves Carla into his flat and tries to get Simon to accept that Carla has now replaced her as his mother. Leanne resented that the most. Personally I think she is a good character and played the role great. Her character has evolved over the years, she did some stupid things as she grew up and she has changed her life around, although the rough around the edges Battersby roots are still there and come to the surface when they need too. Tbh I was hoping that this Leanne, Nick, Peter, Carla, Simon stuff would end and the characters could have some fresh and new storylines and evolve in their new relationships, but for the foreseeable future it looks like they are going to go around in circles. Imo the writers should make their minds up as to whether they are going with a Leanne / Peter reunion, they marry Leanne and Nick and they make Peter and Carla’s relationship long term. Then give them all storylines that don’t involve the other couple. |

I do think had Leanne not been so clearly hostile towards Carla and Peter initially then perhaps things wouldn't have spiralled into what they are now. It's clear she adores Simon and credit to her but it's obvious that her attitude has rubbed off on Simon who hated Carla from the start. Peter was wrong to try and keep Leanne from seeing Simon when the affair came out but Peter has never really thought things through. It's clear from seeing Simon and Nick he can accept parent's new partners but he refuses to give Carla a chance. Saying that I do get Leanne's bitterness though she should remember that perhaps Peter would not have found himself so embroied with Carla had she been a little more supportive and friendly to Carla following the rape. She does also seem to have forgotten that she was quite happy messing around with Nick prior to the tramcrash.

As are a lot of people.
Then again what do people expect, when in her mind she's been 'wronged' 'Oh I can understand Carla, I've done some questionable things in my time, never mind' I also don't get the holier than thou thing, that said she's a horribly snippy cow at times and goes off on one a little too much. Edit: I don't see prostitution/escorting as any kind of moral crime. She wasn't hurting anyone, it's her own body she was selling. |

Well it's no surprise that Simon doesn't like Carla, the fact that she doesn't get on with children doesn't help either. |

Leanne loves Simon, she's his mum. She didn't give birth to him, admittedly, but she loves him as though he was her own. Any mother would react as she does when she can see her child in danger, both physically and psychologically. Peter is a selfish and unreliable father and Carla isn't stable, Simon's safe with Leanne. I fail to see how Leanne is a hypocrite.

I don't think Carla makes it easy for herself, though. She's her own worst enemy. I miss her and Leanne's friendship. |

I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. The point of mentioning Leanne's past offences is to highlight her hypocrisy and dubious moral high ground and I don't think she's changed anyway. Remember she is with Nick just so that she is not alone. She doesn't love him and yet has agreed to marry him for financial and personal security. In the process she is hurting Nick, Eva and Simon, bringing him into such a precarious relationship and situation.
She may love Simon but so does Peter and she is in effect treating Simon no better than him. She's not caring for his best interests by alienating him from his Dad and exacerbating problems and issues rather than resolving them and she doesn't actually care about his safety. Safety of Simon is merely something she can use in her war with Peter and Carla. |
