Well said.

It's a light entertainment reality show and the contestants will all have fans who couldn't care less how well or how badly they dance. Some will have more fans than others. They will vote for their favourite regardless.

Perhaps the dance purists should spend their time at professional competitions where they could nit pick over every tiny technical fault to their hearts' contents?

Viewers and FM's don't just fall into those two camps though. There are many more inbetween who would like to see beautiful dancing from someone who has gradually improved over the series. You don't have to be a purist to appreciate good dancing. I've never been to or entered a professional competition but I know I would rather see someone dance a perfect ballroom or latin dance, than someone who may have a bubbly personality but is unable to get their steps right.

Yes, it's an entertainment show, but isn't dancing entertainment ?

Dance purists have as much right to be on this forum and to air their views as you have. It's not up to you to tell them how to spend their time.

The finalists this year (assuming Lisa doesn't wing her way in on the back of the public vote) seem much stronger than previous years. It really is too close to call.

But no, he's gone along with the idea that everyone wants to see them do side by side. Hypocrite. He's going to be doing side by side dances with her in panto for years, isn't he.

edit to add: yes, whatever Craig does, Len and Bruno would save Dani over Lisa.”

Up until this year I would have said Craig was the most clear-sighted of all the judges however not any more.

What he fails to grasp that SCD is a hybrid of dancing show and popularity contest and the public has yet to vote a winner who was hopeless. However much people bitch about Chris Hollins, Tom Chambers and Darren Gough - they may not have been technically the best dancers of their winning years but they could dance - and almost everyone argeed that Chris Hollins was a better dancer than Lisa is.

I totally agree, how can craig make these comments when he hasnt even seen the dances yet, there is no way to know what will happen on the live show, very unfair comments imo.

If that wasn't the case we would still have people like Michael in, who was very popular but not a good dancer.

Of course Craig will say that, he wants it to be a popularity contest so that Lisa, the star of the show he's putting on next year, will win. He would want people to think the dancing doesn't matter as long as the contestant has an extrovert personality, in that way Lisa gets more votes. If he's leaving he won't care any more about the integrity of the show or the judges.”

Yes I do agree with you in the main. I think about it from my point of view in that I like to watch for improvement and a little bit of a mistake because that's entertainment as the Who once said. Also agree with you on Michael not a good dancer but seemingly a graceful guy and I always enjoyed his dances.

Unless Dani falls over, she's bound to be better than Lisa. Even if she did, she'd still be better.

Why does gurning and jazz hands = performance? Madness.

I don't think that Dani will fall over.
