Setting contemporary music with a 50-piece orchestra, and two sets bof marks, for technical content and artistry - would prefer that to the format of SCD.

Definitely like the technical and artistic scoring.

I am sure if this is employed here, Lisa would score like 5 for techniques.

I like the two scores as well.

Not so keen on some of the dances they have introduced in the U.S. version, though.

Agreed. Looks like they invest in it well.

two scores would certainly sort out those who think its a personality contest, with brashest as best.

Bollywood? How utterly ridiculous?

Are they going to get Haka War Dance next?

Irish River Dance?

Come dancing had folk and offbeat.

Another vote for technical merit as well as artistic impression. That would be a VERY good development.

But no need to go for different dances. And no further development of themes/back stories thankyou!

Say what you will of the French, they do really know how to do Classy, don't they?

I watched a few dances and it's not as good as Strictly technically anyway plus a lot of contemporary dancing with iirc rumba danced barefoot.

Don't forget the Knight Rider Bhangra.

There's no Bruce!

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but my life won't be complete until I've seen Anton Bhangra dancing.

Yes their "Bruce" is more of a young "Sacha Distel".

Their band is MUCH bigger and for me better - though I like the SCD band as well.

More faffing around before they get to dance

Cameraman a bit better

Oh and the DOTs will like this - Rumba en trio

Actually the Bollywood dance was one of my favourites! Each couple chose a style for another and all of the styles were really out there to make it a true choreography challenge for the pros. It was like loads of show dances in Week 4 and very entertaining, although some were much better than others!

Bollywood dance

I definitely like the two scores system the French have. In fact, I think the producers of the French version read this board and picked up on our suggestions!

Christian Millette from my home town and who came 4th on STYCDCanada and world class champion is now a pro on Dancer avec les Stars. He creates amazing choreographies for his celeb partner, glad to see him back on my screen again, love, love the show.

Looking at the French and American sets I wonder if Strictly's will grow next year once it moves to Elstree?

Loved it. I hope SCD takes on some of those ideas... particulary the 2 sets of marks.

The movie "Strictly Ballroom" spawned Strictly, with a nod to the original Come Dancing.

Brendan Cole was specifically cast as the Paul Mercurio character.

Love the idea of the two sets of scores as it would be far more fair. Loved the idea of a large lady dancing at first but her technical skills are now very low and her dances seem to be all the same. Two sets of scores would sort out the Lisa and JS of this world.
