I am looking to get a new phone with a max budget of around £240.

I have a nexus 4 on pre-order but wondered if there were any decent windows 8 phones that are of a similar budget and close spec wise?

The Nokia Lumia 620 looks good but a little under specd which is a shame - athough of course it is quite a bit cheaper.

No, you will not find anything like this until next year. Q2/3 at least.

Pre-order now for delivery in Jan

Also don't forget Nokia Lumia 800 or 900 is good as WP8 feature wise with the latest 7.8 update.

Nowhere near the league of the Nexus 4. But not badly priced for the category it falls under. I guess Galaxy Ace 2 and Xperia U are the closest rivals. (both under £150)

Should have said, pay as you go.

Happy to pay up to £250 - a real shame the 620 isnt higher spec'd with a slightly higher price tag!

You can buy the HTC 8S sim free for £240.

It's probably the best looker of the bunch.

I had my eye on the blue 8S myself, but I wanted something from the high end and went for Lumia 920. But HTC 8S does look nice and the specs are good, too.

I don't think any windows phones have as high a spec as the Nexus 4 at that price point.

Do any Windows phones have either quad core A9s or dual core A15s?

No windows phone matches the Nexus 4 for CPU etc, the HTC 8X and Lumia 920 will beat it for camera (possibly the Ativ S too).

But that's not the way to compare it anyway. People should find the ecosystem they want to be part of: Microsoft, Apple or Google and THEN find the best handset within the range that meets their needs.

i.e. choose software then hardware.

Also, to be fair it is nigh on impossible to catch the Nexus 4 being in stock at that price. Apart from buying it direct from Google, networks and retailers are charging more like £400 for the Nexus 4.
