£1.29 frozen pizza - disgusting
So being lazy and not being bothered to cook tonight I went to my local cornershop and bought a frozen pizza. Ham and pineapple or as the said 'Hawaiian'. It was quite the worst pizza I have ever eaten. It cooked on top in about 10-12 mintues but I noticed underneath it was still completely saggy. So I put some foil on the top and cooked it for another 10-15 minutes. It was still a bit soft on the bottom but I wasn't going to wait any longer. I tried a piece of the ham on top and well, it didn't taste like any ham I've had before. I managed to get through about half of it but at that point I honestly couldn't stomach any more.
I honestly thought it was impossible to make a pizza taste bad but this managed it! |

I got a 3 chesse deep pan pizza from ALDI for 69p. Nothing fancy but it was nice enough filler.
Got a double pepperoni stone baked one from there also for 99p. I guess you just got a bad brand. |

Try the Asda deli counter ones at 2 for £4, especially the American sizzler. It's bloody gorgeous.

For frozen, Aldi 99p ones are pretty good (for 99p) but I go for the Chicago Town stuffed crust pizza, they are at the top end price wise but well tasty. Just don't buy one from Iceland, cheaper and with "Made for Iceland" on the box. V. Poor, I was so gutted, for the first time ever I wrote to the makers about it. Got a letter back, a refund cheque, and some vouchers for a three free pizzas, was well pleased (and a bit fatter )

Deep pan supermarket pizza bases turn out mostly dire so I stick to thin base.
Dr oekter is very good, they get the base right and the ingriedients taste fresh and authentic. |

I watched this programme where they were saying that on cheap pizza they don't even use real cheese, it's just some lard crap made to look like cheese.

Have tried a few cheap unbranded corner shop style pizza's over the years and they are always crap. Bought a £2 thin base Chinese Peking Duck pizza from Asda the other day and not had it yet but it looks jolly good.

With the deep pan ones try defrosting them in the microwave first.

Cheap pizza doesn't actually taste of anything so I don't see the point of buying it

Agree about the deep pan bases never cooking properly from frozen.
I've tried on all kinds of trays and even Pizza Stone doesn't stop it going soggy. Not had frozen pizza for a couple of years, I like the deli ones from Morrisons or Asda and they are usually about the same price as Frozen. |

I actually think the Goodfellas ones you get at Tesco cook okay from frozen and they are deep pan. Certainly a lot better than the one I got on friday.
There's part of me that wants to support the local corner shop but if the food is that bad it's not worth bothering. |

You might as well just eat Playdough. Flour and water just the same. Clogs up your insides and gives you indigestion.
Good for sticking wallpaper up though.

You pay for what you get, is the phrase that springs to my mind.

Aldis 2 pizza baguettes in a box for 79p would you believe are lovely! They have the perfect amount of sauce on for me - which i like a fair amount of, not for everyone i know. That said, there is not a great amount of cheese on them but for that price and as i usually do with most pizza - add some grated cheese and oregano/italian dried herbs half way through cooking. They are delicious if you like that sort of combination (all down to personal preference with the sauce/cheese ratio) IMO and they come in 3 flavours - three cheese, pepperoni and cheese & ham

What do you expect? The corner shop is hardly going to provide gourmet food is it?!

You get what you pay for. That said I bought a frozen pizza for £2 in the Co-op and it was lovely. Stonebaked and really tasty.
