Probably the worst episode of EE I've ever seen. Why they chose to make it an hour is beyond me - literally nothing happened apart from Kevin meeting this man who was then killed in a bus accident and never ever mentioned again.

That was EE at its worst IMO, much worse than it is now. The fact that happened in 2007 is also quite shocking to be fair, because the second half of that year was a really strong period for EE

I remember this episode quite well, it was in March 2007 IIRC. The reason it was so memorable is because how spectacularly bad it was, I genuinely think it might be the worst episode of EastEnders I've ever seen. An hour 'special' of Kevin Wicks contemplating suicide, and Mo and Charlie having a game of darts in the Vic. Dreadful.

I have no recollection of this whatsoever. Must have been memorable.

Is that the episode where Pat met some random guy and went driving around in his van and at the end of the episode, the smiled, looked around Albert Square and was never seen or heard from again?

Nope. That was a week long story, during the Brighton episodes where Hev and Shirley went out to have fun.

Ah right, my mistake. I have no idea why I remember that scene. Probably because it was so silly and the guy was never seen again!

He was supposed to be. But Pam St Clement fell ill and the story was dropped and never picked up again. Was a shame, they could've done with a character like Len Harker in the show.

The Kevin Wicks episode was so strange. It came out of nowhere. Kev had ran away for a month after Dean and Carly discovered he wasn't their biological dads thanks to Shirley.

The episode was him deciding to come back to the Square after chatting to a man but it was implied that the man was a ghost afterwards which was strange as it was never confirmed. Plus Kevin was a terrible character, and the actor was totally miscast in the role which made for awful viewing.

Plus we knew at the end he would come back, which I totally didn't want.

This is one of the worst periods of the show ever.

For anybody who bigs up 2007 on here (as seems to happen a lot, esp. re the Santer v Kirkwood arguments), then looking at this footage of the Dungeness special, I do now wonder why! 2007 sure did start off shakily - almost following in the footsteps of the dreadful end to 2006, save for Roxy and Ronnie's refreshing arrival I suppose!

I don't remember this Kevin Wicks self journey at all though - thankfully! I must've been out the night it was shown and didn't get Catch Up TV five years ago, neither did I bother with the Sunday omnibus.

It wasn't solely down to Santer. This was Harwood's swansong. While Kate Harwood was good at creating characters she was pretty bad at telling stories. Its a bit depressing to know she is once again in charge of EE now.
