Fiona Fullerton is a disappointing signing. Mel Giedroyc would have been better. (Yes, I know, but she would be.)

I admire your commitment to her!

I actually think they should try going for her now Paul Hollywood has dropped out as its a link to GBBO

I want Mel Giedroyc on the show - I thought she was really funny on fame academy way back, but sadly I suspect that she and Sue Perkins have been appoached by now and turned it down.

Is Mel on twitter Danslink? Perhaps you can tweet her and drop some heavy hints her way there ie that you reaaally reaally want to see her on Strictly, then maybe she'll consider signing up

They also mention Tony Jacklin, Abbey Clancy, Dave Myers and (thankfully!) Teri Hatcher.

I'd say Fiona, Dave & Abbey are almost certain, Teri is depending on her accepting the offer and Tony...., I imagine he is in, but it still says "tipped to appear" next to him, so who knows!”

Ms Fullerton learned ballet as a child. Perhaps she still dabbles. No doubt this fact might be held against her should she compete in SCD.

Why would it There's been loads of celebs with ballet/dance training and it hasn't been held against them. There may be a some comments here and there but most of the celebs have managed to deal with it and hasn't affected them in any great way

The only celeb I can't think of it was held against in a major way is Denise V O and that was because if was dealt with very badly by her and the strictly team.

I think if you were to rule out people who had had any sort of ballet or dance lessons as a child the pool of clebs you could use would become very restricted. Its normal for an 8 year old girl to go to some dance classes.
The problem comes when somebody has performed professionally in a danced based show and does not acknowledge this with grace

I'm sorry but I've seen this suggested before, and In certain circles, maybe, but I wouldn't say it's the norm by and large.

My point is that any form of serious dance training must surely be seen as some advantage, though you may be right that admitting it might soften the blow.

There's been 3 winners who had quite a lot of dance training - Kara Tointon, Tom Chambers and Jill Halfpenny. In Jill's case I found out recently she even competed in ballroom dance contests as a child.

Most actors do have dance training in stage school.

Unfortunately not. However, she will be presenting a new Channel 4 gameshow called "Draw It!" in a couple of weeks.

For some reason, I really like this about it - it makes her a real retro signing!

I decided to YouTube her and found an interview of her, she seems perfectly nice and I think she'll actually have good potential, especially in Ballroom dances.

Have to say that, so far, I'm distinctly underwhelmed by all the rumours. If the names are true then I think this series is going to be a poor one. Could well rival series 7 for Z listers.

We said this last year when the first confirmed names were Richard Arnold and Lisa Riley!

Nothing will ever be as bad as Series 7. Soap star central, the ex-wife of a rock singe and Phil Tufnell.

And to think he was one of the more famous ones in the line-up...

I do wonder, what with Tom Daley saying he'd be up for it, if that could be a reason why Rebecca Adlington has been told her services aren't needed.

After all, they're both water based Olympians, and Tom would undoubtedly be a bigger draw in the teen market (and a real dent to the X Factor, as he has a legion of young fans who'd watch him on anything!)

Of course, could just be hinting on his part, but I suspect he really is keen to add to his TV career- and Strictly has proved the safest bet in terms of reality shows when hoping to achieve this!

That really sums up that series!

I don't mind people who've done other reality shows taking part, but the real joy of Strictly is the unusual, left field choices- Phil just felt a bit "seen it all before"

And let's not forget that if Teri is in this series and they do a 'Battle of the Bond Girls', it'll be a lot better than Series 7's 'Battle of the Footballers' Wives'.

Definitely!

Teri is still in contention, I think. Articles are still naming her, which is what I'm hanging on to!

No doubt they'll both be doing ATs to Bond themes (if they get that far and are both doing it).

Best Magazine have just update their Twitter feed to say Abbey Clancy & Fiona Fullerton are signed up, and Teri Hatcher is still in talks.

Also mentioning the fact that she talked with producers when she was promoting Planes in London - it makes sense!

The only thing that concerns me is the signing up of Fiona Fullerton, but I think that perhaps they are going for a Bond girl gimmick with the two of them!

A new DS article names Jet, Donna Air, Abbey Clancy, Joe McElderry, Teri Hatcher, Dave Myers, Rebecca Adlington and Anneka Rice.

Not looking to great, but oh well. I love SCD anyway

Yeah , Jet was one of the early rumours, but has been said less and less now.

Main male name other than Dave is golfer Tony Jacklin.
