Matt Cardle, in my opinion, is happy doing what he's doing.

I don't think everyone who goes on the X Factor does it JUST to be famous. Some are happy plugging away and performing their own music, with enough album sales to make a career.
I still follow Matt and buy his music, because I appreciate talented people who have worked the pub and club circuit for years and use the X Factor as a stepping stone to do what they want to do.

Obvious exceptions are the less talented participants, (Cher Lloyd springs to mind) who want to be a transatlantic household name. They are the ones who crash and burn after 3 or 4 years.

In my opinion, the most talented people don't need a camera in their face 24/7, or constant Daily Fail articles about who they are dating or what nightclub they fell out of, yada yada yada.

Leave that for the more desperate ones....
Well said. What does it matter if he likes xf or nor or if Simon likes him or not. Matt wanted a break in the music scene which is wwhat he got. He works hard and I really admire how he stays focused on what he likes. IMO he is the best male singer in all history and I'm sure he has only just begun.
Thirded!

Well said guys!

After slagging off the show? Talk about desperation.
In every interview where Matt is asked about the x factor (and I think I've listened to just about every one of them) he says he is grateful for the help and support he was given. He is very careful not to slag off the show. However, he has said several times that he's been mis-quoted and had words put into his mouth. He also said he has said things tongue in cheek, with a smile on his face and when they appear in print they take on quite a different meaning.

So true. He has made a few tongue-in-cheek comments which have been reported as gospel. Anyone who knows Matthew, knows he has a wicked sense of humour.

DITTO. Wish him well and all the best. He still gives me goosebumps, either with his own compostions or whatever he covers and that is not easy to do.

Agreed. This is my biggest dislike of xfuk. Everything has to be centered around Simon. On almost all other shows its all about the talent and the music. Nobody asks the aussie winner about Simon. He is the creator of the show - thats it.

Also italy the winners single was org. written by one of their biggest stars. Gary Barlow had a huge opportunity to give both himself and Matt a boost but what didhe do? He chickened out and gave Matt a pisspoor song.

actually Cher is just as much about her music as the thread subject who you're comparing her to, and has no interest in being a household name for the sake of it. She's also never been to a nightclub let alone fall out of it. She performing in all the places she's given the opportunity to which is known as work.

It's not 1976 anymore, the whole pubs & clubs circuit is not what the music industry is built on, which is why even "real artists" succumb to the XF as a way in

Well as someone who has only been here since November 2012 (???? or have you been here before under an alternative ID? ) you haven't had long - there are far funnier things posted here than that. And it is that person's opinion, so to them it is true.

Nice classic track from Duran Duran. Thanks, it gives me an excuse to listen to Rio.

You think he'd be a bit more careful about having a pop at James Arthur without checking what he really said first then!

The vast majority of people who read the forums just read them. You don't need an account to do that, I followed the XF for years on here before I jumped in.

And actually the idea that Cardle is the greatest singer in all history is so outlandish that offhand I can't think of anything else that comes even close.

My opinion, so it must be true.

James tweeted and has since retweeted that Stephen Mulhearn was wrong to compare him to Matt. The sense of the tweet was definitely angled that he felt it was an unfavourable comparison. It was only at this point that Matt took to twitter to express his disappointment in James' attitude. And James general swipe at all the male winners was clearly also a swipe at Matt, given that he is one of the past male winners. And Matt made a very valid point, that by rubbishing their albums, he is also rubbishing the writers and producers of those albums, including Biff Stannard who is heavily involved with Syco and Eg White and Steve Booker who wrote "Leave Right Now" by Will Young (White) and "Mercy" by Duffy (Steve Booker). Matt is great friends with all three of those guys - I bet they were not very impressed by James' attitude either.

In fairness though - James is right not to want his career to go the same way as Matt's.

Although I strongly suspect it will, as they are cut from the same cloth.

Matt Cardle has a moderate voice at best. His pitchy tones does nothing for me I'm afraid.

Matt was the best thing to come from the Xfactor,it has gone downhill rapidly since he won,as for Simon snubbing him,how petty can he get afterall he had James Arthur back after his problems.Matt is still doing well selling records starring in the West End and several musical appearances,he may not be number 1 all the time, but he is a talented man that will work and do his own music, plus he is a lovely guy.XFactors loss if you ask me, it's all about music from Matt, not the fame.
