It's an overpriced shit hole with bad food and even more horrific decor. If memory serves me correctly, one of the branches in central london, i think it was Leicester square was closed down because of rats.

pretty average tex/mex chain. Famous for the cocktails, but everything is overpriced tbh.

Its OK if there is no other choice.

Ok if there's no alternative, but it's not great food and the prices compared to the U.S. version annoy me.

TGI's is a terrible chain. Worse than Frankie and Bennies if thats possible. They seem to be stuck in the 80's

nope, just crap service I suspect.

We booked our work xmas meal there one year. Table was booked for 9pm, we eventually got seated at 10:00 and starter come out past 11:00. Main meal had still not come out by midnight when they told us they could no longer serve us alcohol. I think we eventually left near on 2am. The only plus side is they bought around £300 worth of booze as compensation.

Was that about 5 pints of Lager and a bottle of wine?

Very overpriced and the service is usually shocking. You have to wait a very longtime in between courses & when waiting to pay.

The jack Daniels sauce they use is very nice though!

Ive always found the service amazing, food very good and the cocktails fantastic. Only thing is it comes at a cost which puts a downer on the visit. Maybe ive been lucky.

It's actually not tex/mex.

And I agree with this:

TGI's is a terrible chain....They seem to be stuck in the 80's

Yeah, they're basically a chain restaurant/bar that just serves a variety of average menu items. One small step above fast food. I'm not sure where they get the "southern style" from because there's nothing southern about TGI Fridays that I've ever seen.

They have a version of fajitas and a version of quesadillas (closer to a frozen dinner IMO than anything) on their menu but that's really about as close as they come to TexMex.

TexMex restaurant menus center around tacos, fajitas, burritos, flautas, taquitos, tostadas, chalupas, nachos, refried beans, Mexican rice, chile con queso, chimichangas...with everything usually covered in lots and lots of cheese.

As a side note...the idea that chili con carne (we just call it chili) is TexMex food totally perplexes us in Texas. It's just Texas food and you'd be hard pressed to find it in any Mexican or TexMex restaurants around here.

I'm not trying to start an argument at all. I'm sure they probably do try to sell themselves as TexMex in the UK since most people wouldn't know exactly what TexMex is. I'm not saying you're wrong...just saying THEY are wrong.

Been twice, service has always been good, food decent, cocktails nice, just too overpriced for my liking.

the TGI ribs are nice - best I have tasted.

We recently found some very nice ribs at Waitrose that bear comparison. I forget what they put in the sauce - either vodka, JD, or southern confort.

Harvester is just an overpriced version of a decent restaurant itself.

Another rubbish chain. I hate the thought of paying good money for average food, as I've said many times, I'd rather eat out less often but pay more and go to quality places than go to places like TGI's and Frankie and Bennys and pay for average food. The menu is just boring, when I go out for a meal I like to be excited by the menu.

I like it. It's a good place to go before a night out, a break whilst shopping, bad hangover etc. I love the mozarella dippers and the ribs. I've only ever had good service when I've been

And I agree with this:
Well, one of their more popular dishes is a Texas original, Fajitas.

I think most of the negative views about TGIF stems from food snobbery towards any chains. That fact is much of their food is actually quite good, at least in the original American ones.

Overpriced crap. Almost as bad as Franky and Benny's.
