I forgot that going out for a meal and expecting good quality food makes you a food snob.

Every meal I've ever had in a chain has been average, why should I pay for average food?

Even if I just wanted something like burger and chips I don't understand why you'd go to a chain that sell mass produced burgers with oven chips when you can go to a decent independant pub and get a homemade burger with proper chips, usually not much more expensive.
