Iceland frozen half leg of lamb- how long to cook?
I normally defrost them and cook in the slow cooker but forgot to take it out of freezer.. The label didn't peel off properly so I don't know how long I should roast it from frozen. Can anyone help please?
edit to add it does say roast from frozen on packaging, it weighs 750g Last edited by Demizdeeroolz : 16-12-2012 at 12:32. Reason: didn't mention weight |

The 500g joints have virtually identical instructions, whetehr beef, pork, lamb, or poultry: Preheat oven to 200C (180C fan). Put the frozen joint in its tray with the lid on in for 40 minutes. Remove the lid and give it another 50 minutes. So that's an hour and a half at 200C for a pound of meat! As yours is between those 2 weights, I would be doing it something like 50 minutes lid on, 1 hour 10'ish minutes lid off.
I found a 1kg pork joint. 90% meat again, so 2 pounds of actual pork. Same instructions, but cook for 1 hour lid on, followed by 1 hour 30 minutes lid off. So two and a half hours at 200C for two pounds of meat. |
