Firefox on Android

Can anyone help please?
I have a Sony ST21i, Xperia Tipo, phone.
I use Firefox on my PC so installed on the phone.
If I enter text into the address bar, it works but if I enter into a box within the page, say the search box in Google, no text is input. Some days it does work but not many. I can enter normally in the other default browser and any other program but not Firefox.
I have tried uninstalling etc and adding other keyboard programs but nothing works continually.
