Because he's a middle aged man? Was very realistic IMO.
I guess we are expected him to run like the wind at his age. |

Derek has gone from some big time gangster to some comedy villain.

He is a prat. He can't run fast because he's ageing and out-of-shape.

It's like that a lot these days unfortunately. The whole tone of the show is losing it. Even if the show is in a bad spot storyline wise then the tone and atmosphere of the show should at least be consistent; and that tone and atmosphere shouldn't be 'sitcom'.
Eastenders have never been able to count comedy as one of their strengths and it's especially cringeworthy when the comedy they do attempt is so cartoonish and sitcom-esque. Kim bouncing around the Square at full volume and that stupid car chase with the music is not subtle and it doesn't suit the show. Not to mention Zainab being relegated to doing her comedy shrew routine again. I wouldn't be surprised if Nina Wadia quit because she was tired of being lobbed back and forth between doing her serious act and being the token comedy Muslim from one week to the next. It's all so caricature-ish and cheap. |

Cat and mouse chase (With that MUSIC!?) but the trailer was misleading, because it was better than the actual thug scene, I was expecting much much more |

I'm thinking of going ....!
...I've been watching since early days...in preference to the ITV offering (Corry)....it's now getting like a farce...no-one ever seems to do anything like working - but always get money suddenly to start up a new business or get loads of sparkly clothes when there's a party or a bit of a do... they go to a cafe for breakfast and give away their closest secrets when the person they're talking about is sitting at the nearby table... if this is supposed to be anything like reality them I'm on another planet..I know it's a soap but there's just too much lather and not enough of the 'real' dirt of life today...

IMO EE keeps on going into dire mode and they know it, really struggling with the episodes and storylines but when its getting really bad they go for a big climax or close to climax on one of their storylines and or bring in a new character or storyline.
I thought Tues episode was really bad and then suddenly they showed the "flaws" of Derek. How much money does Max owe those goons and why? Didn't he post what looked around 10 grand that time through the letterbox that time? Wasn't that enough? And how come Derek no longer has enough money to bail him out? They asking for 50 grand or something and again, why? |
