I really got that impression too.
I also thought Ste's little 'I've had enough' was kind of a dig at Brendan for not telling his Dad the truth. I wasn't sure if it was because of that though, or because Ste couldn't handle watching Seamus getting at Brendan so much and just left because he felt so uncomfortable. Brendan sounded so heartbreakingly betrayed when he said 'You left me' and you almost get the impression that Ste can't seem to process that Brendan actually needed him in that moment. He's so used to seeing big bad Brendan Brady. Now he realizes just how much Brendan needs him, whilst I'm not so sure he knew the extent of it before. BH I think he was in a whirlwind of emotion and Brendan turning up at the slum really hit home for Ste, just how much Brendan does need him. When he told him he can't live without him, he wasn't lying. If this story does not win awards (take out Stendan, just the Pa section if needs be) then I don't know what people are watching. Next time Shane Ritchie wins award over Emmett, shit will hit the fan. Seriously. |

My word that was just so powerful, I am still processing my thoughts. I really wasn't sure how they were going to play Seamus, but after that. My word. The bathroom scene was really close to the bone - all kudos to HO, I don't think they are going to shy away from this at all
![]() The scene at the end was brilliant, but harrowing. I love that Ste stood his ground and when he took Brendan in his arms and held him as he began to sob ![]() I actually feel a bit raw after that

When Brendan was channeling Seamus in the pub yesterday, his voice and intonation were exactly what Fintan sounds like as Seamus, with the slow delivery and elongated vowels.

How about Fintan though? I mean, the eyes, the looks, the tremble in his jaw and the lilting voice. He is a great actor!

God they were emphasising the Princess Cheryl thing with the bow in her hair and the way she followed him round. It was like before their dad came they were both adults now he's appeared Brendan's that scared kid and Cheryl's pranching around like a little princess.

I'm still in shock at that ep. It was so powerful, you could see and feel all what Brendan felt. Kieron/Emmett just work so well together it's so cute.
And Fintan is perfect for Pa. Cos he actually looks scary and creeps me out, so it's believable that Brendan is still scared of him. ...Then I watched 15 mins of Eastenders and Alfie running around trying to find out who his wife had an affair with. That reminded me why I haven't watched Eastenders for like 2 months and why Hollyoaks is the only soap I watch. I did chuckle that EE actually got away with saying 'Shagging' at 7.50pm though... |

I guess it helped that Fintan must have filmed early scenes in October so Emmett got to know what his portrayal will be like before doing the impression. Very clever.

Sorry, but if Eastenders is more talked about tomorrow than Hollyoaks then I have to question what the public class as a good soap.
Kat shagging Derek which we guessed months ago. Or Brendan. Crying. Over his abusive Dad. |

Emmett looked haunted for nearly all that episode - it was really powerful stuff.
![]() I am just so glad that for once, someone was there to hold him and not give up on him. Stephen. So beautiful.

Exactly this. I don't think Ste himself knew whether he was annoyed at Brendan not telling Seamus or annoyed at Seamus for making Brendan not tell him or just upset.
I think he was in a whirlwind of emotion and Brendan turning up at the slum really hit home for Ste, just how much Brendan does need him. When he told him he can't live without him, he wasn't lying. If this story does not win awards (take out Stendan, just the Pa section if needs be) then I don't know what people are watching. Next time Shane Ritchie wins award over Emmett, shit will hit the fan. Seriously. You see initially I thought Ste left because he was annoyed and because he thought Brendan was ashamed of him but now I'm starting to think Ste left because he was uncomfortable and wanted to leave because he knew he could. Then when Brendan showed up at his door and broke down he realized that he couldn't just do that, and that whilst Brendan can handle himself in most situations, he just can't hold it together when it comes to his Dad. I'm just so glad Brendan went back to Ste's flat in the end. I can just see Ste never letting Brendan out of his sight anymore, or be alone with his Dad again. He knows that it's not Brendan being ashamed of him anymore, it's because he just can't handle his Dad being around and its destroying him. BH |
