I think even Frankie felt a bit sorry for him as well.

Emmett is amazing. I'm basically in awe tonight.”

For so long it seemed like they were intentionally avoiding a really good story in Brendan and Ste, and now it's just like they're making up for it completely. Everything is being touched upon and they're not doing that annoying thing they used to where they would almost avoid certain scenes even when they were appropriate. For example I was worried tonight that they wouldn't show Brendan with Ste again in the episode, then they had that amazing scene at the end that reiterated that Ste would be there for Brendan. It felt like not that long ago they never would have had a scene like that in the episode, even thought it was obviously needed. I love that they're not shying away from the details anymore, right down to the seeded jam.

Why does Cheryl feel she has the right to tell Seamus about Brendan being gay?

It was adorable everyone knew the goss. Oh village life

Darren's singing was so cute! I do love Dancy!

I love how much thought and detail they are putting into this. I think it's going to be a really boundary-pushing storyline.

Ste was wonderful tonight. Saying he'd stand by Brendan no matter what, not falling for Seamus' 'charm' and being there for Brendan at the end.

Details like that in the writing, plus blinding performances from Fintan, Emmett and Kieron are what really set this storyline apart. Brendan's stance is usually so dominant and alpha-y, but when his dad squared up to him in that scene before the break his whole posture was slouched, broken and defensive.

We're only really one episode into Seamus's stint and already I can see that it's even more hard-hitting than I thought it was going to be.”

I don't think so either - they lingered that shot I found - it was intentional.

I totally agree. It's incredible how Emmett makes Brendan's entire being change in his father's presence.

Me too. It's going to be tough to watch it, but it's going to be some really strong and groundbreaking tv I think.

Cheryl unnerved me tonight, wtf was she all about? It was like watching a small child, even down to the bow in her hair... I found it very unsettling.

TBH I found alot of that episode unsettling, for once, the light relief in between was actually quite welcome

I can't believe how much they're pushing the boundaries already, episode #1 of Pa. I'm both excited for and absolutely dreading what's to come.

I'm surprised Seamus doesn't already know that Brendan is gay, If we assume that he's still in contact with people like Elieen and Brendan's kids, he would of known by now.

Does she???? Well if she doesn't realise how homophobic Seamus is she wouldn't know not to tell. All power to the cause for the Brendan corner though.

Part of me wondered if Seamus already knew Brendan was gay and is just slowly tormenting him about it.

Hi MissD!

It was amazing wasn't it - I loved that he came to Ste, they are so together now, and Ste held him and was there for him - beautiful stuff

I think Brendan might stay at Ste's and Pa will be all wondering where he is and Cheryl might let slip he stayed at Ste's and then Pa will be all 'why did he stay there'

I guess they're maybe not that close?

Or Eileen was too ashamed to tell.

Brendan sounded so heartbreakingly betrayed when he said 'You left me' and you almost get the impression that Ste can't seem to process that Brendan actually needed him in that moment. He's so used to seeing big bad Brendan Brady. Now he realizes just how much Brendan needs him, whilst I'm not so sure he knew the extent of it before.

Definitely. There's been this little bit of Ste-so-much-innocence going on in the last few episodes, where he thinks Brendan can look after himself in situations like this. Tonight has to be the turning point, where they both look after each other from now on.

Yes, exactly! It's been such a frustrating watch because the story was always there for the telling, the likeness between them, the strength of feeling, why Brendan is who he is, and it just felt like they were deliberately not telling it - so wierd. But how completely brilliant that now they are. I am absolutely ecstatic about it, even though it's so so tough.

Totally agree - it's like she lets him infantilise her, because it makes her feel special. So odd in a grown woman really.

I loved Darren and Nancy tonight though, so lovely to see them as parents. You can feel the family feeling that BK does really well coming back into the show. They're gorgeous.

The very fact he asks him if he will shame him, makes me think he knows

Yeah I got a definite feeling he knows and his tormenting Brendan because Brendan doesn't know he knows. I also wondered if Pa saw them kissing behind that treeand then later that's why he asked Ste which women Brendan was with to see if Brendan was ashamed and torment them both.

We'll see tomorrow, I have a feeling he knows though and that's why he asked Ste in particular and then started that whole thing

That explains why Brendan likes his seedless. I need to re-watch, I missed half of it because someone wouldn't shut up and let me watch,

I noticed this. Cheryl's acting really child-like, more then usual. I love the little details they've remembered to put in and the fact they have Emmett, Kieron, Bronagh and Fintan is brilliant. I really don't think they could pull anything like this of without them.

I shouted at him (in my head) when he dared to call him Steven. It's not allowed but now you kinda see where Brendan gets the full name thing from.

Seamus knew straight away Ste was gay. If it doesn't come out some I can see Pa tease Brendan about being friends with him.

Even though she's out of order I'm kinda glad she does because you can see Brendan is far too scared to do it himself.

Yeah I'm pretty sure he knows. The 'you're not going to shame me' stuff doesn't seem to make too much sense to me otherwise, as it's so sudden.
