Agree.

Daddy. It's word that makes me feel so uncomfortable.

That last scene, you can just see that it is Brendan questioning himself. He is begging Ste for confirmation to say that he can change, asking for that little bit of confidence. When he says, this is who I am, I really think his reason for thinking he will never be a better man is because Seamus has never changed. He is still a rude, homophobic, bullying abuser. That is what Brendan has seen himself as and it is only Ste that has ever given him a reason to think otherwise, to overcome that.

It is just the parallels that without Ste, Brendan would be like his father (this is obviously taking out the sexual abuse).

I loved Darren and Nancy tonight though, so lovely to see them as parents. You can feel the family feeling that BK does really well coming back into the show. They're gorgeous.”

BIB - the effect he has on both his children is just wrong. Gosh, I really hated him, evil, evil man.

Oh, the Dancy scenes were lovely, I was worried it was going to become all angsty when Darren couldn't calm the baby, but the ending was lovely. Reminded me of bringing our first home - my husband danced around like that to get her off to sleep and she fell asleep on his chest. Awww...

And calling Seamus "Daddy"

I hadn't thought about that actually. He reduces them both to children, but in different ways. Ugh. The way he talked about Frankie even was vile, he's utterly corrupted.

Frankie's face tonight was so interesting. She must have felt so uncomfortable watching Brendan not able to be himself. And poor Ste, having to watch Brendan play along with the straight act, after all this time and effort.

but on a lighter note, BIB: awwwww, Sutts! That's so cute.

If almost all of us cried at that scene there, what is going to be like when the truth is revealed?

How long have I been waiting for Brendan to sob on Ste like that? And my OH goes and bloody ruins it. This is why I should always watch HO ALONE.

Rewatching later by myself so I can really get into it.

I'll be in bits. My heart was in my mouth tonight.

I'm just going to sit here and think about how gorgeous Brendan and Ste are together. Because they are. Amazing. Ste all playful and understanding. Public kissing. Totally loved up. And then clinging together.

Great points.

I think Cheryl and Seamus is very interesting really. Different from Brendan and Seamus obviously but it's not really that much healthier is it?

She thinks he's perfect and she gets validation from him treating her like a little princess. No grown woman should hold her father on such an impossible pedestal.

Ahhh same! I watched the episode today because I just couldn't wait, but I should have just watched it with headphones late at night like I've been doing on dailymotion for the past few episodes. Although like someone mentioned above, this time I think I'm actually going to be sad to miss the inbetween fluff, as the storyline is all so much...

c&s - it was the scariest and most amazing night of my life.

I think I am going to struggle to watch some of this stuff. He's his son!!!

I just can't wait to see how Ste reacts to the news. I can't wait to see how Kieron portrays it, or how it's going to come out, or how Cheryl will react or how Brendan will be when he tells them...I seriously just can't wait. It will be so completely heart wrenching. I can imagine Ste crying actually, and Cheryl too.

The Cheryl , Seamus thing is creepy it's kind of like she worships him too much like Brendan was the one that was abused but I can't explain it even though he didn't abuse Cheryl you get this feeling they have a wrong relationship in how much he treats her like a child. I think if he wanted to Pa would have abused Cheryl but for some reason he choose not to. I'm not even sure he cares about her he just loves showing Brendan how Cheryl's the chosen one.

When Ste said about his (Brendan's) dad beating him up, I was thinking you just don't know, but you will do soon. It's so brave of them, the whole thing - all four of them were amazing tonight - they'll do this sl justice.

I had this feeling too. The relationship he has with both of them is warped. It would not surprise me if Chez was abused but has blocked it. But then, often it is one that is subjected to it. But I still wouldn't be surprised.

I do think that Cheryl's relationship with Seamus and her behaviour around him explains a lot of the characteristics that she has. The extremes in which she can go from being 100% devoted to someone, to hating them instantly. The inability to take any sort of criticism, yet piles it on to other people without a care in the world.

So much thought seems to have gone into this and even if it is us over thinking, they have given us so much material, to over think.

Haha I was the same. I think that shows how good the shooting was, in how it made some of us actually experience the same emotions as Brendan has, how he's blocking out Cheryl's babbling and just concentrating on his interaction with his father.

Could have been quite deliberate actually, so that focus was given on what she could not see before her

Both brilliant points. Again, it makes me wonder for how long they've all known about the abuse storyline. It would be a great question to come up in an Emmett/Bronagh interview sometime.
