Hellooo
So lovely to see everyone raving about the episode. HO deserve all the recognition they're getting for being so blunt and brave with this storyline.
I'm rewatching again for the first time today and I keep having to pause that first scene in the bathroom to catch my breath for a few seconds. The way that Brendan immediately bows his head and shifts his stance when he sees his father, he becomes completely submissive and it's almost like he's preparing himself for the thing that comes next. It's such an instinctive, unconscious reaction that it breaks your heart thinking of how many times he's actually done that before. Then when Seamus leaves he looks so terrified and angry with himself.
It's too much. Everything is just written and acted and detailed so perfectly that it doesn't feel real.
