Channel Four has been struggling to reach a million for a few new commissions. Jay Hunt apparently likes to know the overnights too.

Thanks for the ratings DMN.
EastEnders solid but not cracking 8m often enough. Building to the big storyline too and no real upward movement yet. |

I hope daytime TV falls in the ratings as its just repeats, One thing that bugs me on the spilt threads is that Digital Spy no longer posts the archive
![]() As for Eastenders, Its the most dull thing on TV even with the Christmas plot

Squeaky bum time for the Beeb with EE failing to set the world alight still. Corrie not doing much better, but it's EE that has to fight Downton and give the Royles a platform.
That news bulletin may have a bigger role to play this year than EE itself. EE needs lift off this Friday when I believe the festive fun starts. That it is Mad Friday probably won't help its cause (I don't think Gala Bingo do Mad Friday so Corrie should be unaffected) |

I think CTM will do just fine against Corrie. It will be a close contest this year, but Christmas will be the more interesting for it! |

Friday its against That Text Santa thing which gets a corrie lead in....Its been promoted like hell on Heart Radio and Vodafone have been setting txts about it too. I think Thursday could see a rise but not a huge one given its the last late night shopping of the year.Monday will have the highest figure for sometime though.

Text Santa sank in the ratings last year despite a X Factor lead in so don't know if it will be any better positioned on a Friday coming in after Coronation Streets lead of 8 million. The Christmas Eve edition also only gained around 4 million overnight, though it was up against a stronger BBC one line up.

I reckon Text Santa will flop moreso than last year
but I guess ITV will cling to the "charity" aspect and try to brush it off |

The simple fact is, EE IS underperforming. Even if it does well on Xmas day that will not be an end to its troubles. Its audience is vanishing now at a consistant rate it seems. They need to stall the viewer drop and then try to win viewers back. I mean two million viewers being lost over two/three years is pretty shocking stuff. No amount of fan spin can declare otherwise.

Dancing On Ice lineup looks pretty good. But will it be enough to increase ratings ? If not, then ITV are going to be in hot water.

Personally, I think Call the Midwife will win Christmas Day. But, obviously, it's figure will be much deflated with the Corrie clash. Without out i reckon it could of got 11m in overnights.
These are my early Xmas Day overnight predictions: Doctor Who 8.2m Strictly 8.9m CTM 9.6m EE 9.3m Royle Family 8.9m Emmerdale 5.5m Paul O'Grady 4.3m Emmerdale 6.8m Corrie 8m Downton 9.2m |

Latest Christmas Day odds from William Hill:
1/2 EastEnders 4/1 Doctor Who 5/1 Downton Abbey 8/1 Coronation Street 10/1 The Royle Family Christmas Special 14/1 Call The Midwife 25/1 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special 40/1 Emmerdale Great odds for Call the Midwife. Also, Strictly might be worth a flutter given the weak competition. |

And it seems Mr Selfridge has been pushed back a week so Ripper Street now has a 2 week head start: https://twitter.com/Coops_tv/status/281032226706161666
