Well down on the previous week. Assuming they both maintain 1.5m shifts against Lewis (could conceivably be more) then we are probably looking at low to mid 8m audiences. About what I would have hoped for prior to Christmas, but a bit disappointing in light of the xmas figures.

Could BBC1 now be rueing the Monday night slot??

275k (and 74k) for the catch up thing (which seemed confusing to me)

Why? It won the slot and its the best rated series for each programme, It will probably timeshift past 8 million anyway as you say overnights are irrelevant

Any figures for how many have watched both? We Sky plussed Selfridge and iPlayered Ripper Street via Sky.

So neither watched live (but Selfridge watched same night)..

I heard Omid Djalili on the radio talking about Splash yesterday and he said it has already been commisioned for a second series

Can only hope he was joking

I'm so glad I didn't watch it, I said it would be rubbish beforehand

the sad thing is that (relatively speaking) it pulled in decent figures

with any luck the ratings will fall off the cliff next Saturday

True.

The near 12m festive audiences did raise hopes of something magical happening though.

Lower soap ratings than I had anticipated. Thought they would all be higher than that based on previous first Mondays in January. Those are quite boring ratings really.

Did a bit better with these though. It is nice to see both of the main channels getting high ratings at the same time in the 9pm slot.

Yesterday afternoon:

BBC1
1.45 Doctors 1.51m (18.0%)
2.15 Privates 992k (12.6%)
3.00 Escape to the Country 1.05m (12.4%)
3.45 Perfection 1.22m (11.7%)
4.30 Antiques Road Trip 1.90m (14.6%)
5.15 Pointless 3.50m (21.1%)

BBC2
1.00 Darts 532k (6.2%)
4.15 Rivers with Griff Rhys Jones 618k (4.9%)
5.15 Antiques Roadshow 1.00m (6.0%)

ITV1
2.00 Storage Hoarders 1.01m (12.8%)
3.00 Dickenson's Real Deal 1.22m (13.9%)
4.00 Tipping Point 1.54m (13.3%)
5.00 The Chase 3.51m (22.2%)

Channel 4
2.40 Countdown 421k (5.2%)
3.30 Face the Clock 495k (5.3%)
4.00 Deal or No Deal 1.13m (9.9%)
5.00 Four in a Bed 990k (6.8%)
5.30 Come Dine with Me 1.19m (7%)

I think BBC2 will be happy with that. The darts is highlights from the previous day, none of it's live, but beat Countdown and Face the Clock. Antiques Roadshow was respectable too. I doubt they've lost much share at all, if any, whereas BBC1 will have gained a lot.

Was he talking with his real accent and not that fake Middle Eastern one he uses for his stand up?

That's impressive considering the comedy juggernauts on BBC1 and Lewis.

Any word on the Sunday ratings for 'CITV's Old Skool Weekend' yet?

The highest rated programme on New Year's Eve was New Year Live with 9.73m, Scottish Hogmanay viewers taken out. So the end of year chart stays as it is.

Thanks rzt!

Africa is surprisingly high on that list, for me anyway as I thought it'd appeal more to older viewers. ITV will be pleased that their weekend shows scored highly among 18-49s. BBC1 had a good week generally speaking in that demo.

Thanks Yog.

So it's looking like mid to high 8m for a final figure and Ripper Street will be in the 6m range. Both channels will take that.

Do you know what Africa is roughly up to now?

That's for with an overnight of 7.7m.

Compared to an episode of SDC with an overnight audience of 10.35m, which had an 18-49 of 11.1%

DOI had 3.37m over 55s, compared to 5.339m for SDC. So 1.969m of Strictly's additional 2.65m viewers were from over 55s.

Knowing ITV, it wouldn't be a surprise if it had.

No surprise Miranda and Mrs Brown's Boys ratings dropped With a non-holiday slot and some big competition, almost 7m viewers for both is impressive though.
