Just 3.4m for ITV's latest comedy drama flop. The trails since xmas and 8.4m Corrie lead in helped then...

That's what we call it on here since its slump in the ratings that has left it with sub 7m Friday audiences, constantly beaten by Emmerdale, and trouncing by Downton on Christmas Day, which has left it bereft of viewers and facing the axe.... |

No they didn't.
Corrie averaged 8.95m and 8.84m (9.15m and 9.11m inc +1). The Chase has beaten Pointless every day this week. Yesterday The Chase matched its all time high of 3.97m including +1 (it got 3.63m without). Pointless got 3.37m. Tipping Point also hit a series high of 1.87m (1.78m without +1) which is a cracking result for 4pm. |

Solid rating for Great Night Out. It was never going to get more than 4m for the reasons discussed yesterday.

Cracking ratings for The Chase and Tipping Point, which carries on increasing every day. Should reach 3m by the end of the series if it keeps increasing like this. Is Tipping Point now getting higher than Britain's Best Bakery was in that slot?
Some CBBC ratings: 16:30 - Jedward's Big Adventure: 428k (3.4%) 17:00 - The Dumping Ground: 615k (4.1%) 17:30 - 4 O'Clock Club: 432k (2.5%) 18:00 - Sam & Mark's Big Friday Wind-Up: 230k (1.1%) Cracking ratings there, especially for The Dumping Ground which is actually up on last week's double episode. 4 O'Clock Club is rather flat but still really good. Sam & Mark's new show did OK but not fantastically. |

I guess now it depends where it goes from here. If it can hold most of that audience it might just get another shot, but t has very little room to manoeuvre. ITV have said they will be patient with their comedies and not be too quick to judge, so hopefully they'll give this one a chance and continue to promote it (with better trailers as I don't think the ones they were running did it much justice). It was a decent show and I hope it does alright in the long run. BBC1 have renewed sitcoms with lower ratings in primetime for their first series before now so I'm not writing it off yet. |

It's a poor rating for a much trailed new comedy drama in winter on the second channel, with 9m lead in. |

Some CBBC ratings: That's very impressive for The Dumping Ground, even better than some of the more hyped dramas like Wolfblood and Wizards vs Aliens.

... Timeshifting really is taking off isn't it?
For example, we're often getting dinner ready when Eastenders is about to start, so we do a live pause on Sky+, and start watching 5-10 minutes after the scheduled time. Would we still count as part of the audience for the main show? |

A question - how do you define timeshifting for ratings purposes?
For example, we're often getting dinner ready when Eastenders is about to start, so we do a live pause on Sky+, and start watching 5-10 minutes after the scheduled time. Would we still count as part of the audience for the main show? |

Not too bad for Great Night Out. I think it has potential to grow from here - I thoroughly enjoyed last night's first episode. The show made me smile and has likeable characters. And it's nice to see ITV trying with a new comedy drama, instead of having another period drama or detective programme. So I really want this show to do well.
Silent Witness did OK. I was hoping it would hold onto its 6m audience from the night before though. |

This has got to be the first normal week for a very long time that EE has been over 8m for every episode. I would really love it to keep strong or improve more. There seems to be a lot less of the dull young characters on at the moment. Dot back on Monday so it's got plenty going for it EE.
I haven't watched it so regularly for some time now. 8m people tuning into a soap these days if really good. Ken |

![]() Will splash crash? And how will Britain's Brightest hold up? The reaction was better than splash on DS but that is not necessarily a good indicator. Splash has had big publicity all week I think it will get 6m tonight. Britain's Brightest will get 3m. RHSS (Richard Hammond's Secret service not to be confused in any way with the Royal Horticultural Society for which my eldest son is a member.) will get 2m. I don't think even without the football it will do any better. The audience it gains will be no bigger than the audience it looses from last week. AA will be some where on the M1 towing a broken down LDV van. Ken |
