Absolutely disgusting to see BBC Breakfast giving so much publicity to Coronation S**t. Actress on it yesterday and now a plug for Christmas Day. I understand this programme is now made in Salford but plugging itv programmes so heavily on the BBC is shooting themselves in the foot.

Funny, as it wasn't so long ago that people were berating the BBC for supposedly plugging its own programmes heavily (to the exclusion of most others).

In truth, they do what they should - give prominence to whichever programme is uppermost in people's minds at the time.

Coronation Street is not uppermost in my mind.

EastEnders' storylines are currently climaxing and Breakfast has not done one single feature or interview.

Clearly they are giving prominence to Coronation Street because they're down the road from them in Salford. I don't recall this many features about them when Breakfast was in London.

As expected, Santa did better than last year. Some ridiculous under predictions on here. Looks like 8.45 was when the Corrie viewership finally realised they weren't getting a second episode.


Guilty of it so often.

They will probably spend this weekend fluffing the Downton summer holiday special....

Text Santa averaged 5.13m (23.3%) including +1, peaking with 6.21m (37.6%) at 20:45.

Celebrity Juice did well in the late slot and overall a very good rating for Text Santa.

Worth noting that EE got quite a respectable Friday night figure there, considering it was Mad Friday too, and ITV had a light entertainment spectacular on air.

I think HIMYM will reach 10 seasons and then they will reveal the mother. But it's all about Barney Stinson anyway.

True, I suppose... the high BBC Three repeat figure suggests that the figure would have been higher at 8pm on BBC One if it hadn't been for Text bloody Santa.

The Digital Spy Readers have voted The Great British Bake Off as their favourite reality show. I wonder if it would do well with an 8pm slot on Saturday evening audience, when it transfers to BBC One or perhaps it should remain as it its Tuesday ratings bullet slot. A Strictly lead in would have been good for it but X Factor will no doubt return with a bigger fanfare next year and probably bigger audiences again.

Live at the Apollo the big winner last night then. Up around 1.2m on its usual dire audience, and in spite of Omid Djalilli being the featured name!

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

At least Shane Ritchie is on Saturday Kitchen this morning to plug EastEnders.

At least the BBC are fair when it's a popular show they cover it on Breakfast. The most idiotic plugging I ever saw was when Live & Kicking had Cilla Black on talking about the new series of Blind Date, the SAME night Noel's House Party returned for a new series. Now that was dumb. Shane Richie is on Saturday Kitchen though so I suppose it evens out the Corrie feature on Breakfast.

Compare the BBC to ITV's reaction last year when Strictly was doing better some weeks than The X Factor. Call The Midwife & people from The Voice were banned earlier this year initially when the shows took off as well.

BBC Breakfast are so close to the Coronation Street Studios why wouldn't they take advantage of talking about a current TV programme rather than some of the guests they had at the beginning of the move. It makes sense to discuss something current and relevant to the audience than have bands from the 80's on

Lets be honest its probably alot easier to get an actor based in Salford on a Salford based show then one from London

In my opinion BBC Breakfast shouldn't be discussing ANY soaps, is it any wonder Daybreak finds it so difficult when Breakfast are doing soaps.

On the other hand Lorraine talks about all the soaps, EE characters appear on This Morning etc.

Usual ITV haters BBC paranoia from the usual suspects, Radio 1 give heavy promotion to TXF when it is on air, they'd probably pass out if they tuned in and heard TXF talk on the BBC

Text Santa deservedly up on last year. A much better show than last year and promoted better too. EastEnders back to the usual level but interestingly the BBC3 rating was up.

Why shouldn't Breakfast discuss soaps. They usually do it after 8.30 when Lorraine is on so that point makes no sense.Daybreak finds it difficult because people don't think it's very good.

Even easier would be a live link to the EE set at Elstree where they could talk to most of the cast !

Really good ratings breakdown there. If you cut out the part that clashed with EastEnders and the last 15 mins when viewers stated to flag and the rating was nearer to 6m than 5m.

Poor result for all those who were loudly hoping that it would be 'yet another' massive flop.

Well done ITV BBC 1 is not to great apart from the EE rating.
And ouch at 4 and 5.
