Selfridge could be joining HMV, Jessops and Comet at this alarming rate of decline!

A few disappointing ratings there. They lost at least 1.5m in just under an hour. Considering the drama in the Skate-Off of one of the skaters dislocating his shoulder, I would have expected it to be a little higher. ASFF did OK but even with the snow, down on the 6m figure a few weeks ago.

Looking on BARB for last year Countryfile is up a bit year on year and DOI is down by a slightly larger bit. Wonder if Countryfile will manage to beat it in the next couple of weeks

Oh God. More daytime viewers due to snow day and they are watching that vile creature.

Must be a large minority of people watching it, as people must be off work/school due to the snow.

Hands up who thought Blandings would do a Royal Bodyguard and flop badly!

I did and it's held up okay.

19:15 7,671,200 28.99%
19:30 7,455,200 27.69%

The 5-minute breakdown for the Skate Off (exc +1 here) makes for fascinating reading:

20:30 - 4.94m (17.1%)
20:35 - 4.99m (17.1%)
20:40 - 4.88m (16.9%)

Looks like a good 1m people did not watch it live and only watched the skate off itself later.

Ripper Street down 4%? That's not right. It was up this week.

Must be some worried execs at ITV HQ this morning.

And with 7 more episodes of Selfridge to go and the looming threat of Top Gear and no snow to arrest the decline, it could be a long few weeks on the horizon...

Especially with 7 episodes to go... and writing for S2 already well started.
They're lucky it's against a more male skewing drama like Ripper street rather than Death in Paradise or Silent Witness.

Great figures for Midwife. Good for Blandings and Ripper Street. Always solid ratings for Countryfile

Mr Selfridge suffered BBC strong night. It can't bleed any more viewers from now on.

A quick glance and even without +1 more watched Selfridge (the actual programme) and it's the ads that bring it down.

Fantastic for Midwife. Alot of people from reading various threads seem to be first time viewers of the show as well so its great its actually building on its already established audience.

This is turning to be a very bad start to the year for Itv. Dancing on ices ratings are its worst ever! And now Selfridges, their big New drama hope, has lost almost 2million in 2 weeks and beaten by Ripper street!!

Here we go again...

Dancing on Ice's ratings are NOT their worst ever. Yes, there is a drop but it still outrated pretty much everything on ITV last night.

Almost 2 million in two weeks? Didn't recall it getting nearly 7m for it's first episode but oh well.

I guess this is a ratings crisis by your means?

The two daytime game shows reached all-time highs on Friday and with the large amount of daytime viewers today, they may do so again. ASFF is doing much better with the 45-minute editions than the 1-hour editions. Splash is turning out to be a hit aswell having consistent ratings for the three editions so far,

It's not a bad start to the year for ITV, it's not the start you were hoping for, and it's not a spectacular start but it's bound to improve.

Those figures are interesting - and you are quite right in your assertion - but they can't disguise the fact that viewers are giving up on Mr Selfridge ... and, having watched the first two episodes, I'm not surprised. Jeremy Piven is near unwatchable, except for comic value - like David Gest meets Barry Gibb meets an OTT ringmaster on acid ... it's not the kind of lead performance that has traditionally appealed to ITV viewers. Even Radio Times' Alison Graham, usually ITV Drama's cheerleader, has ripped into it in no uncertain terms - and quite rightly so.

The coming weeks could be very interesting ...
