Why is DS repoting CBB got 1.2m and around 240k on +1? That's not right. Can't be.
By the way, repeats of Saturday's episode (which recorded a series low in the overnights) scored nicely yesterday. The first of which at 11.15am on C5 averaged 400k (3.8%). The second repeat at 2.55pm on 5* drew 163k (1.0%). Both were well up on the slot average and how the repeats had been doing. |

I think this sums up C5's attitude to Big Brother and it's fans:
http://www.bbspy.co.uk/cbb11/news/01...tor-rehearsals They've clearly no respect for the format and no respect for it's viewers. |

Oh, it's not.............. ![]() The Rylan issue is a non-issue that will be blown up into a big issue by a few who don't like the show anyway. I won't waste my time commenting on it further in a Ratings Thread. |

Very good return for Call The Midwife. Launching with its highest ever overnight is a great way to start the series (dare I say I was perhaps expecting a few hundred thousand more...but that's irrelevant really). Dancing on Ice is a bit of a concern. On the one hand the performance show is getting similar ratings to last year so it hasn't got any worse, but then I suspect they've made changes in the hope of improved ratings not flat ratings, so they'll be disappointed. The results were crushed by CTM, although Family Fortunes is doing pretty well for the cheap filler it is. Nice rating for Ripper Street and Blandings is doing really well in what isn't an easy slot. No denying that's a disappointing drop for Mr Selfridge, but it still did pretty well. It's still got a good amount of breathing room and 5.9m is a pretty strong drama overnight just now. It's doing significantly better than The Paradise did for a start. Obviously if it continues to drop they've got a problem but just to address a few points: Quote:
Especially with 7 episodes to go... and writing for S2 already well started.
They're lucky it's against a more male skewing drama like Ripper street rather than Death in Paradise or Silent Witness. Quote:
It's no Wild at Heart.
Quote:
Plus Ripper will probably consolidate better, so it will almost certainly come out in front of Selfridge now in the officials.
I think TG next week may boost Ripper still further. |

Also, because I remember C14E asking last week, The Magaluf Weekender got its highest overnight so far last night, averaging 773k (inc +1). 316k were aged 16-34, a series high in that demo too.

Mr Selfridge is not 6.61m - it had 5.61m I think.

Top Gear was getting over 4m against CTM last year in overnights. The fact its male skewing helped it stand up to the BBC1 ratings behemoth. Things could be different this year of course.

Even last night's episode should consolidate to similar levels as last year's Wild At Heart. Selfridge has been consolidating more than WAH did, and has better demos too (Selfridge has a significantly stronger ABC1 skew).
Quote:
Selfridge has been consolidating better than Ripper so far though so I wouldn't count your chickens there, particularly with Ripper's overnight being a bit inflated by its lead in last night (Selfridge was ahead even without +1 for the second half of the hour).
It'll be interesting to see whether the drop for Mr Selfridge carries over to the timeshift audience or not. Didn't episode 1 timeshift by about 1.5 million (excluding +1)? Or have I just completely made that figure up?

Fantastic for Midwife. Alot of people from reading various threads seem to be first time viewers of the show as well so its great its actually building on its already established audience.

There's a pretty good chance then that the Skate Off will be in the 4m's. Ouch and a half... dreadful.

Silent Witness is doing no better than Selfridge is anyway though and the former has no drama competition at all. Death In Paradise this week had about half a million more than Selfridge, but again the only drama comeptition was from a 2m rating repeat, not a 5.6m rating new drama.
I think the point was that if it was facing one of those dramas it would drop more as they have a more similar audience, it wasn't saying they were doing better than Selfridge.

I'm probably in a very small minority here, but didn't watch any of the programmes mentioned above last night, I was watching the NFL Conference Championship games on Sky Sports 2HD from 8pm onwards.
Does anybody know the audience size for that? |

Still had to have a little dig at Midwife.
![]() Were you expecting CTM to be nearly 4m higher than Selfridge on overnights? Selfridge undoubtably dropped more than expected, although you could say it made up for a smaller than expected drop last week. The next week or two will be key to seeing whether it'll drop further or hold steady. Quote:

Which is a fair point, but I didn't see the same point being made the other way around earlier in the week when the ratings for those dramas (which are also doing very well) were being discussed.

RATINGS CLEAN SWEEP!!!!
BBC1 wins every flagship 9 slot last week Monday to Sunday. Outside of the Olympics, I cannot remember when if ever that last happened. Certainly not in autumn and winter! Seismic! Mr Selfridge is not the hit ITV were hoping for! |

The ads bring down everything on commercial TV. We can't just strip them out because it suits our argument, it's important they are factored in to our calculations.
The fact they turn of in their thousands when the breaks are on doesn't change the fact that the actual programme is more popular. Even more so when +1 is included. |
