Channel 4 were probably right to ditch the summer BB, but they should have hung on to CBB, as a reasonable line up of celebs has been pulling in 2.5 million on Channel 5 and would attract a similar amount over 3 weeks on Channel 4.
Maybe it's time also for them to look to getting in more sport after the success of the Paralympics and a big hit coming every April with the Grand National. I know the really big athletics contracts are with the BBC, but they can maybe put in a surprise bid for the FA Cup ans see if lesser athletics meetings can be available. |

Do we have an HD inclusive figure for Bake Off?

Looking at the EE ratings for the past two weeks I will be very surprised if it goes above 10 million on Christmas Day now. I think it might peak around 9.7 million but I think a 8.9 million is most likely.

Was it in the bargain bin along with those other well known BBC flops Bonekickers and The Hunted?

Returning to "Washout Christmas", it really does now look like the period from today until Christmas Eve will be dominated by prolonged and torrential rainfall across much of the UK.
There will inevitably be widespread flooding and misery for many as Christmas is ruined. I'd wager we might see some high news ratings, and an uplift generally, if this horrible turn of events really does come to pass. Lumley and the Ark on Sunday seems well timed. Or perhaps not! |

24 hours late but for those betting surely bookies pay out on overnights - surely they aren't going to wait two weeks for the officials to come out.
Similar situation - arguably much worse as totally wrong - they apparently all paid out on Obama margin of victory based on numbers a day or two after Election day - final numbers show Obama won by well over 3% and people who bet on that were treated as losers. |

can remember an hour long emmerdale at 7pm and was that followed by the bill??? seems if itv did not have the live footly on tue on random weeks more established shows could be set in the slots seems the random line ups each week will never work. think moving the football onto itv 4 until the later stages of the football and trying to establish more regular shows the only answer??? |

Last night Eastenders had a 34% share of the audience. On christmas Day in 2011, Eastenders gained 9.9 million viewers for a 33% share of the audience. Eastenders tends to wobble from around 34% to 31% each week.
The figures are from here http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011...-abbey-ratings I think Eastenders will do fine on the day itself. |

And last year the ratings went up anyway, nothing beat ten million on the overnights, no, but that's because there was stronger competition - the combined audience of BBC1 and ITV at 9pm was way higher than in 2010 when Poirot was only getting four million on ITV. Even if that's not the lowest ever, that's a major embarrassment because usually that was the kind of thing that could easily fill a night for ITV. You can imagine series repeats doing badly, as we've seen in the past, because people who couldn't be bothered watching the series first time round wouldn't be bothered then either, but if you get a complete story in one night, that should surely get something of a casual audience. |

Lowest ever ? Surely during the various ITV strikes in the 60s and 70s when they showed a test card for days ?

Ouch for ITV1 between 8 and 10, with nothing getting into double figures. Except on football nights, and imagine what might happen if no English teams get past the second round, Tuesdays just seem to have died after Emmerdale. One answer might be to move The Chase into an 8pm slot- it seems to be getting big enough to be moved- and follow it with a drama repeat. Otherwise there doesn't seem anything that would work.
