The other two Branning brothers have romantic developments in the next couple of weeks, after the reveal, and if their partners knew surely that wouldn't even happen?

The revelation is made in the Vic in front of everyone; the whole Branning family is there as the pictures show Max and Tanya getting Lauren off the table as she's drunk.

If it was Max, surely Tanya wouldn't even consider marrying him on Christmas Eve, let alone go along with his attempts at a surprise wedding on Christmas Day? I know Jo Joyner recently said she thinks Tanya would forgive an affair, but would she really?

If it was Jack, surely Sharon wouldn't agree to marry him? Although the affair was coming to an end by the time he got with Sharon, he's still been trying to pursue her the last few weeks and stuff.

And with Derek's death coming up - surely it'd be him? A bit of an aftermath, a couple of scenes with Kat, Alfie threatening his life, and then he dies.

I can't understand the reasoning behind doing a Who Done It when the culprit is so obvious. Why is it presented as a mystery when it's obvious it's Derek? It would have been better to show the affair. Do they actually expect viewers to be shocked when it's revealed to be Derek?

It's completely obvious. It was never going to be Max and there's pictures of Alfie with Jack at baby James' graveside, surely they wouldn't go together if Jack was Kat's lover.

It is really baffling, it wouldn't make any sense if it wasnt Derek. It seems to me that they really cannot be arsed about this storyline any more. It was immediately hated even when they first announced it. Maybe as Jamie was going to leave anyway they just palmed the whole thing on Dereek just to wrap things up in a nice clean way.

It just seems bizarre they haven't revealed it before now. It's been obvious for so long. And as a viewer i feel a bit cheated - forgetting the ick factor of Kat/Derek - i'd have rather have had seen it played out on screen and get some idea of the sort of relationship they had. Because i'm not convinced we're going to see much of them together after the reveal either considering it's revealed on the 20th, the big fallout is with Alfie on the 21st and then Derek is dead by the 25th.

Also, the spoiler pictures for Xmas/New Year completely give it away anyway so I don't know why they are making it such a big secret now. People who do spoilers won't be remotely shocked when it's Derek.

It was never going to set screens alight regardless but seeing it depicted onscreen would have made it a bit more tolerable. Another thing I'm confused by is why they put so much effort into hyping it up and then half arsed it every step of the way. If they don't care about this storyline why should we?

Obviously all signs point to Derek, the only other option is his a red herring and that he covers for one of his brothers and say he is the one who been at it with Kat, but the latter seems too complicated, I hope its pretty straightforward, its been dragged out enough as it is.

I do think it was always meant to be Derek in fairness. I bet when it comes out a lot of will tie in with the booze scam with Alfie and Derek's "revenge", and I don't see the point of the writers doing that storyline between Feb-April of this year unless there was some follow through with this storyline??

I would probably imagine on Xmas Day a lot will come out leading to Derek's demise. Derek will probably tell Kat he never did love her, it was all about getting Alfie back and obviously, getting his end away whenever he could. Hence maybe why the writers felt they didn't need to show us the affair on screen because really there was nothing more to it from Derek's side. Who knows

Maybe Jamie Foreman point blank refused to do any kissy scenes with Jessie Wallace

More like the other way around.

As a straight man, I'd rather kiss Jamie Foreman than Jessie Wallace.

How come?

I doubt you would if it came down to it and had exactly 5 minutes to choose which one to kiss.

Possibly. I always think with these "who dunnit?" type storylines that the writers don't often have their culprit in mind right from the start.

It's been obvious that it's Derek from the beginning.

And as a straight woman, I'd rather kiss Jessie!! Lol

Thank god it's finally revealed on Thurs though, even though it's so obvious anyway that it's Derek! It's just I can't take anymore cringeworthy scenes of the 3 brothers looking at their mobiles at the exact same time. When it happened again tonight and I honestly felt like throwing my OWN mobile through the f*****g tv screen!! Aaaaargghh!!

It could be Ray or Phil and I wouldn't rule out Ian Beale, Masood, Tamwar, Fatboy, Patrick, Michael, Billy or Tyler.

I've said it before - Alfie COULD pick Max or Jack, be about to knock them out - and Kat shouts it's the wrong brother in order to protect Jack/Max

If Alfie thought Jack, Derek could 'realise' that it was Max and step forward and take the blame himself.

Derek then dies - and everybody thinks Kat was having it away with him, when in fact she was having it off with Jack or Max.
