The Greatest Soap Character Of All Time?
If you could only choose ONE out of all the many many thousands there have been overall, who would be the one you'd choose as number one of all time?
I'd pick Prisoner Cell Block H's Joan Ferguson because there was something very unique about her. She was a baddie, but she was so much more as well. Maggie Kirkpatrick who played her was able to bring accross this woman who could be totally evil, and other times totally kind and compassionate, and even vunerable too at times, and she made it believeable. You could believe that this person who was responsible for so much evilness was also capable of being a very kind, gentle person too. It was very good writing on the part of PCBHs writers, and great acting on the part of Maggie K |

Yours are the only suggestions so far that can match my one, except maybe JR Ewing So far there are too many posters who must have only seen soaps in the last few years and have no real idea of the truly great soap characters that could whip the ass of the likes of Stacy Slater or Silas from Hollyoaks.

It's their opinion though
![]() They are allowed their opinion, but can't i be allowed to suggest its bad? i mean i just don't thnk some of these newer characters listed could ever be in the same league to the classics, but i still say each to their own....even if i do shake my head in despair as i say it

Ronnie Mitchell (EastEnders), but Bea Smith (Prisoner) would be a close second.

Yes. And its my opinion that their opinion is bad beyond belief, but i'd never suggest they aren't entitled to their opinion, however misguided it might be

Well i guess this is in response to the answer that i gave earlier and i'll explain why! Danielle was in by no means a "Classic" character but in my head for a character to be truely great they have to make me react to them make me want to fight for them and make me emotionally invested in their journey and Danielle ticked all of those boxes for me! Added with Ronnie Mitchell, Stacey Slater and Amy Wyatt i'd count them as great characters in my head!
So i really couldnt care less if folk think my reasons and opinions are "Bad beyond Belief" my ways my thoughts my sight of a character!

![]() JR was a crafty guy but i do have weird interpretations on how i see people!
