Can't believe I'm the only person so far to mention Goldeneye. Travesty.

Red Dead Redemption gets it for me. I've obsessed over games aplenty, played dozens of titles to death and there are old classics out there that date only in graphics. Red Dead was an actual experience, and I was immersed by it. The authenticity of it all, combined with the graphics, the plot and everything else just made it THE game for me.

Final Fantasy X was the most epic gaming experience I've ever had. I couldn't get over at the time how gorgeous the graphics and cutscenes were and they still look great today.

Definitely the Mass Effect trilogy.
It's a visually stunning game with so much depth. The world created really is epic. Each game takes me roughly 25 hours to complete, I've done 3 and a half complete playthroughs, so that's nearly 250 hours I've put into the game and it's all been worth it. The combat admittedly isn't the best, but it certainly isn't the worst in a game. This is made up for through the style of gameplay, it really feels like you're watching a movie in which you get to make the choices. Obviously have to mention the endings. It's not the best ending that a series has ever had, but with the extended version of the endings released last summer I think that it provides a bit more clarity. However one slightly below average hour out of 75 hours per playthrough doesn't make it any less of an amazing game. |

------------------------------ Having said that, in terms of total game hours, nothing will top the time I spent on the Geoff Crammond GP2/GP3/GP4 games. A few other honourable mentions to Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, Super Mario World, the Sonic the Hedgehog games (the Megadrive ones, nothing since), Half-Life, Civilisation II, Micro Machines 2 - Turbo Tournament, Street Fighter 2, and Geometry Wars. |

I would say multiplayer has to be Goldeneye - N64
Single player Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time - N64 I know thats cheating but i just can't narrow it down to picking just 1 of those.

If I had to pick one The Resident Evil Remake for the Game Cube for how challenging and atmospheric it is.

I have a few
GTA: San Andreas - which I played, and played, and played until the disc actually wore out. LIMBO - utterly simple, yet brilliant ICO - same, really haunting too Metal Gear Solid - unique game experience (remember having to enter codes from the packaging, and the vibrating controller gimmick? Brilliant) Syphon Filter - remember these? Skyrim - still playing this, it's just awesome Commandos / Commandos 2: Men of Courage |

Thats a difficult question for a long time gamer like me as my tastes have changed over the years. If I had to choose one game that has kept me emmersed in a world longer than any other I'm afraid I will have to go with the popular choice, Skyrim. I think part of that choice comes down to being a long time gamer, its the kind of game kids take for granted, whereas I saw this open world concept as a dream idea growing up. Now its here and done so well I'm blown away with it, just getting immersed in this world has givien me a feeling about playing games I never had before.
The game isnt perfect though so I can accept some of the short falls but the fact remains that this is probably the best game I have played. I'm hoping Fallout 4 will surpass it. TO me Bethedsa are the daddies right now, their titles must be the most anticipated ever, people are currently wetting themselves waiting for Skyrim DLC let alone a full game lol. |
