Not that keen on Spouts.... until i saw Nigella Lawson tart them up beyond recognition. These are wonderful.

I hate mince pies, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake and cranberry sauce. I really LOVE sprouts, would quite happily eat a huge plateful of them though I don't think my family would appreciate it if I did that.

I don't think your bathroom would be overly pleased either!!

Half the problem with mince pies (or any pies for that matter) is that people don't know how to make nice soft pastry. Pastry is key to any pie and sadly most shop bought ones get it all wrong, making a pastry which has all the texture and flavour of pollyfilla. Rock hard, crumbly, dry and flavourless. This is why I don't buy supermarket pies or flans because the pastry is just awful. Best to make your own if you have time.

Happily M&S have made some called the Ultimate all Butter Mince Pies which are not half bad. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-st...=gallery&ino=2

Can only eat home made mince pies, with just a tiny filling. Those shop bought deep filled ones are just gross.

Can't stand marzipan/christmas cake/christmas pudding/brandy butter.

Bread sauce

For those of you who think you hate sprouts, I was one of them.....they have probably been overcooked to an inch of their lives....once I tried them cooked with butter and chestnuts......I am now a convert.

I dont like Christmas cake. My mum is a wonderful cook and her cake is apparently moist and delish, but I dont like. The weird thing is, I adore her christmas pudding and always save room for a couple of helpings.

It's nothing to do with the pastry as far as I'm concerned. I'll eat that part, it's the mush of dead flies that the pastry is packed full of that I have a problem with.

Is Christmas pudding the same as Christmas cake except with the cake extras like marzipan and icing?

Mines got to be mince pies! Can't stand them. Quickly followed by anything with marzipan! Yuk!

Any Yuletide food that makes you hold your nose at the thought of eating it?
Haha!

I'm veggie, allergic to spices - cinnamon etc......the preservative (sulphites) on dried fruit....and alcohol!

I am considering buying a chocolate swiss roll and pretending it's a Yule Log for Friday though!

Brussels sprouts. I hate the f***ing things. (Also: does anybody eat them outside of Christmas?)
I love Brussel sprouts. Cooked just enough so they still have a little crunch to them, they are delicious. If they are cooked the way my Aunt does them (family rumour is that they get put on to boil in January for the following Christmas), then they aren't so nice.
The only foods I don't like for Christmas are brandy sauce and the marzipan on Christmas cake.

Agreed. I make my own pastry and it makes a huge difference. I used to make my own mincemeat too which is a good solution for those that don't like peel etc. but I never have time now. Although I'm always amazed by the number of people who don't like anything made with dried fruit - I love it!

I'm convinced a lot of dislikes are down to bad cooking on the first try. Turkey for one, it isn't dry if it's cooked properly so why the hate for a fairly inoffensive bit of poultry when nearly everyone likes chicken! :/

I don't like Christmas cake or Christmas pudding. I refuse to eat sprouts. I can't stand the way my mother in law cooks vegetables (she will probably have them started by now so they can be properly mushy in time).

Sprouts are evil - unless shredded and stir-fried with bacon.

Apart from that, I like everything about Christmas food. Yum.

No, it's stodgy nastiness, like treacle and putty.

The basic ingredients are very similar but it's much moister as the fruit gets plumper with the extra liquid and the steaming.

Combined with dead flies, bluebottles and wasps posing as sultanas. (I'm going a bit green here)

I love mincers, it's Christmas cake that I can't stand. All that marzipan and sickly sweet icing. Yuck!

Not keen on Turkey either - would much rather have a lovely joint of beef.
