Is Christmas pudding the same as Christmas cake except with the cake extras like marzipan and icing?
Well, the ones I've eaten are so far apart theyre not even comparible. Like comparing the taste of a Christmas pudding to a Christmas cracker. Xmas pud (and I've had one just now) is wonderful, beautiful combination of fruit tastes, piping hot, drenched in cream. Phenomenal food. The Christmas cakes I've eaten, even before the woeful marzipan and icing, are drab, dry and pretty tasteless. Bit like wedding cakes some of them, which is the one food at a wedding everybody leaves, apart from if you were lucky enough to get a bit of cherry. |

So who actually eats xmas pud and cake.? The majority here hate them. Is it just a tradition?
I think its just to much stodge after a big meal and we are doing it a disservice. |

I love it. Best bit of the dinner for me. Big dollop of brandy butter on it and lots of double cream.

Ooh, I love Christmas food. Christmas cake, Christmas pud with lashings of cream, mince pies, Christmas dinner (except for the meat, and I dislike bread sauce) and anything else Christmassy. Yum.

Love all of it - preparing it, cooking it, eating it. Love it all.
Can't manage any Christmas pud or Christmas cake on the day itself, though, and don't like cream on anything. |
