Just wondering if a soap has ever done a Sudden Adult Death Syndrome storyline...

you read about it in the papers of people just falling asleep and never waking up or collapsing suddenly and dying even though they seem in good health

I personally can't remember a soap doing this but if anyone can, please share.

p.s. Forgive me if this thread sounds morbid, that's not my intention.

Wasn't she involved in a minor car crash with Vera (I thinK) and later died of a blood clot or something similar while, like you said hanging out her washing.

She was called Judy Mallett I think.

Gavin Taylor in Brookside died in his sleep but it was a brain haemorrhage.

It's just a year now since we lost my 33 year-old nephew to SADS. Literally went to sleep and didn't wake up again. PM found absolutely no cause.

Although this happens to around 850 people a year, it is probably too rare for it to happen in a soap. Many people simply would not believe it and if a character is to be written out, then there are many more 'viewer-grabbing' sls that would be used first.
