Why are thin pizzas more popular than nice thick deep pan ones?

All the pizzas I've ever ordered in, I've automatically chose a deep pan one. I find the thin pizza express ones have nothing to them, like chewing cardboard.

We ordered shed loads of them in at work today as a treat, every one you could name.

But every single one was thin. The slice I had wasn't even a thick as a £1 coin. I asked if they were all this thin and universally, everybody was of the opinion that thin ones are far better and nicer.

Surely the purpose of a pizza, is the pizza. These thin ones were like biting into a poppadom with some bits of chicken on top.

The deep of deep pan is just dough. Thin is better

It is all to do with the personal. Some like thin and some like it thick.

Some get bored with pizza.

Some make their own.

Some people who are about to stuff themselves with pizza like to think the thin ones are fewer carbs - they probably are.
But if I'm going to binge I like the thick crust ones best.

As a pizza connoseiur, thin is nicer. You can taste the toppings much clearer, less doughy taste.

I only like frozen supermarket pizzas, cannot stand Domino's and the like, and the deep pan ones are all bread and soggy, I want crispy!

Deep Pans are only nice if the chef where you're ordering from get it right, and they often don't. Some will be all dough, some will have far too much cheese so it falls off.

Deep pan is mainly dough. I want to actully taste flavours in my food, not filler - no matter how junk it is.

Thin are more traditional and tastier. Due to less stodgy dough the flavour of the toppings is more apparent.

There is that granted. The problem is, all you can taste is topping. Admittedly some of them are fantastic but there wouldn't be a great deal of difference in serving them on their own, for the lack of dough, or ooomph as I prefer to call it.

The thinner the better. I see the base as just being something to hold the toppings.

Is that meant to be a good thing or a bad thing. It made me perk up with interest, not sure if it was intended to though.

I may have to do a test. Order a thin crust and a deep pan pizza and see if you really can taste the toppings more with a thin crust.

I'd never had any problem with the flavours in a deep pan before.

Oddly I prefer medium sliced bread to thick though.

Thin crust is so much better, I hate all the dough in deep pan, takes away the flavour from the topping.
