It was rubbish, two old men fighting over who owns Walford I found to cringey to watch, also Phil had more important things to think about (Ben/Hev).

Agreed. It was embarassingly bad.

It might have been interesting if Shirley got Derek's help in getting revenge on Philth. Then I might have taken Shirley's empty threats a bit more seriously. I guess we'll never know as Derek is leaving now.

Derek being involved in another SL, I'd hate that he got too much screen time.
As for Shirleys 'revenge' I'm not interested.

If she was able to actually carry it out, then it would be okay to watch. But we know, Shirley can't beat him . That's why I'm not interested in it either.

But she did-he broke of the fake engagement cos she threatened him. If he wasnt scared there was no need to do that. Its why i find it a bit hard to believe he would be that scared

But it's hardly any sort of revenge, Mona .

If Shirley gets Jack's help, then we'll see, but I doubt she will as Jack can't be too happy about being called a doormat by a doormat .

Ah yes, that legendary line . Funny how he didn't follow up on this threat.

It's legendary for all the wrong reasons

I'm trying to imagine the writers room where they decided to put that in the script

I remember the episode vividly where Derek and Phil had their first tiff in the Vic. It was potentially a great set up for a character who could physically go toe to toe with Phil - something the show hasn't had since Grant - and then....well, what the hell happened to it??? Total and utter missed opportunity.

It was good to see phil scared though

Its silly that they arent following through the story. this is obviously a fault on the writers.

Same I am disappointed too. I wouldn't say it is the writer's fault, more likely the storyliners/producers' fault. The writers receive breakdowns/extended storylines they are supposed to write. Their main job is writing the script basically.

Yeah well theyre all classed as writers in some way, ie they write the storylines so i think thats what people mean when they blame the "writers"

Im hoping shirley is just taking a backseat in the storyline and it'll be picked up again towards the end.

Me too. Shirley is just a wind-bag, mouthing silly threats when her best chance for 'revenge' - i.e shopping him to the police for his orchestration of the murder cover-up - was seemingly beyond her wits. She's just a tiresome, spiteful old biddy now.

If they were empty threats why did phil break off the fake engagement

Beause, it's likely that even if Shirley didn't say anything, someone else would (Jack, Derek etc.)

I thought it was more about shirleys threats as to what made him scared. You could tell at the end of the tuesday episode he knew she was right and she could ruin things for him. As if he would be scared of jack saying anything. Sharon said all we need to do is tell them theyre lying and "show them that were together"

Derek was no threat to him. Whereas Johnny tried to kill him and nearly succeeded if it was not for Jake.
The only time Phil took a hardman on who truly was scary was twice Dan for himself and Johnny Allen for the woman he really loves. *Quietly creeps away slowly closing the door*

Yes this fued was quite bad. Phil punched him and it finished. I really thought this was going to be a good fued whwn derek warned phil in the vic. He sounded hard and looked like he would batter phil plus phil looked worried and the last time he was worried was when dennis wanted to fight him. Derek never done anything really. He done abit of robberies and then got battered a couple of times and beat up both the moons. Derek is just a old hasbeen who thinks he is a gangster, he cant really fight hasnt got much contacts and is just a petty theif that lies alot. Phil is another coward who dnt like to fight but likes somebody else to do the dirty work because hes to scared.

i agree ^ phil would use his bat. the fact that he punched derek with his bare hands shows what derek said really bothered him
